Today we made packages from hives in Maryland. We are a very small operation and not nearly as fast as the big guys.
It was a fun day shaking, lots of laughing, and in the end just under 200 packages made.
Enjoy!

Thank you - there are not a ton out there, and we are super small. I'd love to see a few of the big guys myself. It took us all day with that many people to do just under 200. Roberts Bee Company (I get early packages from them) can crank out a LOT more than that before lunch!

That's a LOT of bees. Interesting. I have never seen this on a level this large. most beekeepers here are hobbyists and only do this to produce 1-2 swarms to replace a lost colony.

Just throw in an queen excluder between the two boxes a week priir to shaking, so you just have to look for open young brood and not have to locate the queen itself

@@adrianistrate9166In fact, 6 or 7 colonies can be produced from 1 hive of bees. This is possible in a place with a temperate climate, which depends on the length of the season in that region. This person is doing this in a region with a Mediterranean climate.
