11:40 at this point; many other crafters have noted not to cover up the registration lines the cutter uses with the clear because it “may” effect the reader. It appears you have not had an issue with that.
@steadfastrebels
@steadfastrebels 6 ай бұрын
That's right, we actually haven't had any issues with our cutting machine reading the registration marks while using clear laminate on top of the sticker paper. I do believe there are some workarounds if your are having this issue, however, like bit covering the registration marks with the laminate while still covering the art for your stickers.

@steadfastrebels They came put pretty good actually! :) I am going to use your tip to use the scraper when applying the laminate sheet though. I used my brayer, but I think using the scraper at first to lay it down & then the brayer for any bubbles, will be easier. I think where the brayer is more bulky, so actually made it harder to apply the laminate. I'll update you once I try it with the scraper instead 😊

i don't think the cost breakdown is super accurate - the printer you use (epson ecotank 8500) is almost $700 !! which gives quality closer to what you would get from a professional print shop - i just got a 2800 model (the one you have listed in your description), but the quality of the print is not nearly as crisp - which i am okay with for my purposes, but just to say the printer is always the biggest expense. you mention buying a used printer as an option, but this can backfire depending on how well it was care for by the previous owner. the stickers do end up being cheaper to make but the upfront costs of all the supplies and hardware needed to get there can be a lot for what most folks can easily afford. that being said there are other tips here that seem super helpful, and thanks for sharing what you know and putting this together!!

Hi, thanks so much for your thoughtful commentary! You are correct, we do personally use the more expensive Epson printer, but we did start off with a basic printer before our business grew to the point where we could afford the higher priced printer. We genuinely believe (and know from experience) that someone just getting started can absolutely work with secondhand and/or less expensive tools to create their own handmade products. Thank you again for watching and commenting, we're happy you found some helpful tips and info in our video!

Thanks for the great video! Would you consider going into how to use the CB09 blade? I purchased the same exact ones you linked but I just can’t get it to fit in my Cameo (also same machine as yours). I bought all sorts of housings and none fit right to allow it to sit in the blade carriage of the machine. If I jammed it in, then trying to get the cut settings as even worse! I wasted so much sticker paper until I finally gave up and went back to the auto blade. How in the world did you make it work for you guys?!?
@steadfastrebels
@steadfastrebels 5 ай бұрын
There is a slight learning curve to the blade, we can send some pictures that might help if you want to email us (steadfastrebels@gmail.com) or DM us on instagram (@stesdfastrebels) we can hopefully help you figure it out!

Do you need special solvent based ink to print the stickers? Also I know it is pricier, but would the silhouette cutter handle printed sheets from a epson ET-8550? Approx 12 inch
@steadfastrebels
@steadfastrebels 6 ай бұрын
Great questions! No, you don't need any special inks, as a matter of fact, that is the exact printer we use with their standard ink, and our silhouette handles the sticker sheets just fine. It might take a little trial and error with your computer, printer & cutting machine to get all your settings dialed in, but once you do, your stickers should come out great! 😊

@@steadfastrebels OK great! We have a haunted house up in Michigan and we want to add to our merch lineup for our gift shop. I am a tinkerer we have 3D printers, a larger vinyl cutter, a CNC router as well as some other lil gadgets. So I know all about the trial and error. Never a mistake always a lesson learned. Tho I still have questions for you. The ET8550 says it will print up to 13x19. I have seen a few people say you can set up custom sized paper. I hoping to print 8ish by 24ish perforated car window decals. I know we need to stay within the cut plate size of 12 by 24. I will probably also buy rolls of Oracal printable vinyl and cut it down for the custom sized prints along with laminate material. I know I have more questions but it has been a long busy few days. Thanks you two for putting together such great and inspiring content. 👍
@steadfastrebels
@steadfastrebels 6 ай бұрын
We have printed custom sizes but all smaller than the max size for the printer. We have seen a few thing online about using roll paper but we have never attempted it, in theory it should work with proper page setup.

@@steadfastrebels Everything came in. Everything has been working great. I got thru the learning curve and I have been making a bunch of stickers already. All working great! Then, I ran into an issue. I hope you can help me. Not to mention I hope I can explain this where you will understand. I have an image in Silhouette Studio that I manipulated the nodes to clean up an area. After cleaning up the area in question. I selected the offset tool and placed the border around the image. Here is where things get strange. When I select all and go to weld the sticker and border together so it only cuts outside of the border. The part I cleaned up and or "trimmed off" returns in the white border area. So if I want to print the image that area shows up. I have tried different methods to try and fix the issue. but nothing that I have tried has worked. HELP!🤣

I love the video. wanted to start a sticker business for the last year, but what if you're not an artist? where do you suggest getting art from?
@steadfastrebels
@steadfastrebels 7 ай бұрын
Great question! I would look into either royalty free art that is okay for commercial use or there are many sites that sell assets that you buy with a commercial license. You can also use a site like fiver to pay an artist to create your ideas. Thanks for watching!!

They have a school logo on a pamphlet but want me to make it into 2" round glossy stickers. Kiss cut on sheets total 250 so and 1.5 x 3 " di cut firm laminate stickers 250 edited approved for both stickers will be cutting on my silhouette cameo 4... My ink is water resistant it's pigment Canon so is my sticker is mat paper she wants glassy what's best my Laments I have on hand are Oracal 651 Transparent and VViViD Clear Self-Adhesive Lamination Vinyl
@steadfastrebels
@steadfastrebels 4 ай бұрын
First, for the paper, we use matte paper because our laminate is glossy. We tried glossy paper with glossy laminate in the past and weren't as happy with the results, but results will vary based on all sorts of factors. As far as what to charge, our rule of thumb is cost of materials + time. You are the the only one that can determine what your time is worth, but we do our best to estimate an hourly rate per project that feels fair for a professional service. As a rough example, if you're making 500 stickers, and the cost of materials is approx $100 + say maybe 8 hours of work at $50 per hour, that would be $100 + $400, so $500 total for the job. But that really depends on how much work and equipment you'll be using. We price our individual stickers for competitive retail prices, but if we had an order of that size, we would charge a wholesale price. Because we would be making a single large batch of stickers, the work is condensed into likely one or two days at most and we're really charging for our professional services as opposed to individual retail products. In the end, each project like this will have factors that can affect what you might want to charge, and it really all boils down to figuring out a price that you are comfortable with. Hope this makes sense and is helpful!
you can do all this with cameo 4
