My family is strict on dating inside the culture and religion, but seeing that there are many couples like us that have gone through it and won gives me hope. chinese are same culture as indians, buddhism/hinduism aren't really seen upon as different, your family will probably accept him (as long as he's buddhist hindu confucianism or some other similar religion)

I'm British Indian and my ex-girlfriend was Chinese. We didn't split up for cultural differences or anything, just grew apart but I'm still friends with her and we enriched each other by sharing our cultures. Now my niece has lots of UK Chinese friends. Indians and Chinese seem to have a good fit together and can relate in the West.

Since HKUST was mentioned in the video, would you say the presence of Indians is more noticeable in HKUST or in Cambridge/Oxford?

I’ve never been a student at Cambridge/oxford but I know people who have been and all the people that I know personally who went there are...white. I think there is a large group of Indian students not just at HKUST but in the Hong Kong universities in general. However they do tend to congregate together in HK possibly because it’s hard to integrate with locals if you don’t speak Cantonese. I think I. The U.K. its easier for the Indian students to integrate with everyone else.

First of all, I really loved your story as it is very similar to mine.. Not that we met at the university, but met at the coding challenge meet up.... I really loved the way Arnav tells and explains the situation just like product manager of any company!! I have a question to Arnav as well as Bex.. What are the factors you considered to settle down in UK, keeping the fact aside that Bex is UK citizen? Moreover, second question to Arnav is: Was it hard to find a job in UK as you are not a UK citizen? The reason I am asking is I am considering my options to relocate to UK

The Hong Kong protests is a topic that I don’t really wanna talk about - it’s quite controversial and as someone who is not really affected by it (because I live in the U.K.) I don’t think it’s my place to talk about what the HKers are going through. I think whatever I say about it I will get a lot of hate and I want to avoid that if possible. People can be scary - I hope you understand!

Well, nothing’s ever permanent...currently, yes we live and work here and intend to be here for the foreseeable future. I work in the pharma R&D space while he works in tech. We are alway open to new opportunities..if we do find something suitable in the future, we wouldn’t mind exploring those options further. 🙌🏼
