Thank you!! 😊For whatever reason, I can't remember if we ever talked about that in a video or not 😂 But basically we lost touch after graduating college then reconnected a few years later and decided to meet up! It felt like we never lost touch! So we became good friends again and he asked me on a date, which I was hesitant about but decided to give him a chance and the rest is history 😝

@@RuthandThomas Graduated in 2012! (I am SO old!) and played tennis for Truman (don't know if that matters lol but makes me seem cooler I guess!) My partner didn't go to Truman but we grew up in the same small town in Missouri.

Thank you so much for your well wishes! We are absolutely loving marriage. It can be hard and challenging at times, but it is definitely worth the perseverance. My grandparents just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and we're celebrating our 4th anniversary next week.. so we're looking forward to another 60!

Not everyone's story will look the same as ours and you definitely can't force it, but we are grateful for how it all worked out! We met initially freshmen year, but started dating the end of our junior year.

Oooh good question: honestly I (Thomas) was a bit of a coward and didn't know how to tell Ruth that I liked her. I was really nervous that things would change and I would have to be vulnerable, so I probably would not have expressed interest except that she was about to leave for the summer... That being said, I think if there is interest and compatibility then it is appropriate to communicate your desires for a relationship rather quickly. When you are both able to express mutual interest you open the door to more vulnerable conversations like "where do we see our lives going in the future?" / "what do we, as individuals, want in a potential life partner?" / "how well do we, as a potential team, work together to improve the lives of those around us?" The importance of courtship is to prepare yourself for the future and evaluate if the person you are with is truly someone you want to make a "life partner". I think college is a great time to start courting because it is also a time when you as a person are being prepared for the future and evaluating potential life paths. For us, we "officially" started our relationship soon after expressing mutual interest because it was something we both desired and felt was wise. Honestly, the best time to begin courting is when you both are on the same page! Hahaha sorry if that is a little long-winded.. hope it makes sense! Let us know if you have any more questions 😊

Thomas did ask me out, but I've seen it go both ways! My mom made the first move on my dad and they probably wouldn't be together otherwise, so it's fun to hear those stories as well! 😊
