I would have liked this off road racing to continue with all electric (BEV) vehicles. However, even though I am sceptical about H2 generally, ie. the present technology to make AND store H2, I'll be wanting to see how the new car performs. Maybe have both of these off road racing cars as different categories?

Why use hydrogen? The losses in generation and the going back through a FC to create electricity is insane. Other than WANTING to create a narrative around hydrogen, when to the automotive industry is walking away from it. It seems pointless

I fully support the reasoning that the switch to H2 is likely being pushed by artifically creating a use case and I think it would have been useful for this racing series to stay with BEV. Although, as racing sports are always on the edge of technology this could support research around H2 engines, fuel cels and all infrastructure around this that can be useful elsewhere. There *will* be a usecase for H2 somewhere in transportation in the future, just not in individual transport or where electricity is available. I hope, that this "Extreme H" will have lively exchange with those other applications. Regarding the arguments to H2 from the video, I can understand the "longer range, longer races" point, but I somehow fail to understand how "higher torque" can be achieved with H2 that can't be reached with EV... since the vehicles will be driven with an electric engine either way 🤔

​@kosi2801 Hydrogen cells produce the same amount of electrons all the way until the tank is empty. Battery voltage sags as it empties.

Sorry to hear you think that but we believe we need a multi-strand approach to e-mobility. Electric solutions are alive and well and will continue to grow. But Hydrogen can also be a key pillar for the future of the automotive industry and a natural evolution of our mission to showcase the possibilities of new technologies. What we believe is that, as a championship, Extreme H can take hydrogen to the next level and be that platform for energy companies to test and develop. These are extreme locations we are racing in and, if we can do it successfully there, hydrogen solutions can be developed and utilised anywhere.
