In the busy streets of Luxembourg, something exciting is happening. Scientists are working on perfecting autonomous driving, so that you and I can be chauffeured to work or school by a self-driving car. This future is what drives Professor Raphaël Frank and his team: they want to change the way we travel and make our daily trips safer and easier.
In this video, our scientists talk about how they transformed a regular car into an autonomous vehicle by adding sensors, cameras, and customizing open-source software. We'll explore the role of high-definition maps in providing precise information for the car's sensors and how these maps have evolved over the past decade. You'll also hear about the main software used to drive the car and the real-world tests conducted in Belval and Kirchberg. The team recently released an open-source version of their Robocar software-the main software used to pilot the vehicle.
The future of self-driving cars is closer than ever. Watch now to see how Professor Frank and his team are paving the way for safer roads, easier commutes, and a world where intelligent systems transform our daily lives.
