Watched this for the first time after it appeared on my fb feed. Interesting how the first episode I see reflects very much what is going on in the world today!

Cheers for uploading this episode, Keith. One of my favourite episodes of How We Used To Live.

You were the first Margot Butterworth, weren't you? She was re-cast when she was older with Georgina Lane from Jonny Briggs. I remember you were in the horrible episode where Margot's parents were killed. You all acted really well, although I think killing off Avril and Laurence was too harsh for a schools programme.

I was Hanif!! 😂

Were you the younger or older version of Hanif? I know Beverley and Roger were played by four different actors each, including uncredited young children in the first episode.

No, definitely not. The one you're thinking of was in black & white and about a French girl living in Brighton.

No, this is not the 1961 show. The credits include the Keighley & Worth Valley Light Railway, which did not become operational until 1968; it was produced by Yorkshire TV in 1987.

@@CrankCase08 The only bit I remember, apart from the opening titles, was the father setting off to work and seeing all the girl's bedclothes hanging out of the window. There must have been more however!

@@batman51 My memory of the programme is a bit vague. All I remember the closing titles that showed the French girl walking alone on the Brighton beach in the evening to the sound of 'Stranger On The Shore, and one episode where she couldn't understand a boy's enthusiasm for cricket - the boy being of the family she was staying with.
