This is my first attempt at an essay video. I felt compelled to reflect on how we're being pushed to more extreme views through the online media landscape and how self-accountability is really our only defense at the moment. If you find this video enjoyable and valuable, subscribe and I'll make more.

Here from your IG story, but I don't agree with what you're saying in the video. IMO all politics has been since forever is compromise and now look where that gets us this year. I think it's fair to listen to all political and ideological viewpoints and go from there to see what's best for a community and a country. Regarding armed militias - 2A is a thing.

Thanks for your point, Gloria. Personally, I think a lack of compromise has defined American politics (Obama admin-present), but hope more people jump on this thread and share their thoughts. Would like to hear more points on this.

This is SO good John. I feel like we’re pushed to two extremes on a daily and sometimes I’m not so sure what’s right anymore. Thank you for uploading this video! I’m a huge fan of Jubilee and I especially enjoyed the podcasts you hosted! Looking forward to more of your videos! 😊

John, you are a huge role model for me. I started a program similar to Jubilee's Middle Ground series called TAP (The Acceptance Project). TAP is a student-run and student lead club based and founded at Stroudsburg High School in Pennsylvania, with the mission of creating the mediators of tomorrow to continue the conversations of today. We give students the time, environment, and opportunity to engage in challenging and civil conversation about the divisive issues facing the country today. It's an arduous endeavor, but I believe that through dialogue we can create a more understanding and ultimately more accepting school and community. Realizing that our community needed more mediators I also started a summer camp called "TAP into Summer" (TAP standing for 'The Acceptance Project'). "TAP into Summer" is a five day, overnight, dialogue intensive summer camp, designed to train students in Monroe County on how to start TAP at their own highschool. In addition to the summer camp training, we also have an online training program where students from anywhere in the state can participate in a 3-day Zoom training session on how to start/lead their own TAP chapter. With our model, our summer camp, and our online training program I'm confident that TAP can begin spreading to other schools across the state and eventually the country. Our website is www.theacceptanceproject.org/ in case you want to check out more! I'd love for the opportunity to get in touch with you and hear any and all advice you have about TAP and our mission. Please feel free to reach out to me through my email tahavahanvaty@gmail.com. If you got through this monster comment, thank you once again John for all the work you are doing for good humans around the world(:

Could not agree more with the notion that the solutions lie somewhere in the messy middle called compromise, and the path to compromise lies in empathy.

This is definitely something that we should think about more. Extremism has only gotten worse the past few years.

Keep going. We need more areas to actively converse about what is happening online in an open fashion and acknowledge we don’t know what we’re doing in the age of the internet. I’m curious to hear if you think that the slow adaptation of the internet in its full form (thinking professional and educational applications) is part of what allows an individual to be swayed without their awareness? And if our current and radical jump to all things online will help us understand this power or simply continue to move along with their day to day ideas of what it has been.

Hey John! So, I've been following a journey recently of spirituality and religion and sort of distancing myself from excess use of digital technology. Just saw you on Jubilee's Middle ground video of feminists vs antifeminists titled "are men falling behind?" truly thought you were one of the most broad-minded, open-hearted and balanced people there who held your ground despite certain people who I personally found very one-sided and seemed egocentric only speaking from what benefits themselves rather than the whole of humanity and were trying too hard to "control" the narrative. I even heard some VERY incorrect, hypocritical, self-proclaimed definitions from these people of what makes a "real man" or what makes a woman "feminine", as someone well-versed in all that shenanigans myself lol Yes, we are definitely in a world of extremes, and this is a result of misplaced captalism capitalizing off of any emotion or need or desire that people feel in excess and don't think should be tamed or controlled over time. In the video, you were right on how all men aren't masculine and how all women aren't feminine. It's not just right, it's essential that way. Yes, women growing up obtain feminine energy first, and vice versa. A plant is born a seed, that doesn't mean it stays a seed all its life 😂 the ideal human being has to have a balance of both, and the whole point of a marriage was supposed to be to help a man learn to apply the masculine in him and learn the feminine, and a woman vice versa. This was ASSUMING that before the marriage, a man was raised to be masculine, and a woman feminine. The thing is, agreeing with that you said in this video about extremes, I would like to add on, I think in the past it was the same. The difference was, the time it took for the world to get to each of those extremes was pretty long. We live in a world now where we're so obsessed with being fast-paced, extremes are growing and changing at a fast pace. Basically, drama is quicker now than it ever was lmao

I feel a lot of what you're sayin John. I logged off Twitter in late August, total cold turkey, and when I came back today (RIP RBG...), I saw clearly how curated my feed was to push my emotional and political buttons. There's something insidious about an unfeeling algorithm taking advantage of my vulnerabilities and weakening my mental health, and I kept on coming back for more and more until I didn't. As time goes on I dream of unplugging more and more, hoping to find more satisfaction and depth in real life.

So good John! I recently had an argument with a friend who said that she believes in 'equality' and not 'feminism.' It triggered me only to realize by the end of the argument that her intention was never malice. Totally agree that we need to hear others and look past their opinions. Looking forward to watching more. PS- The Morph effect hahahahahha
