How well do Arabs know their Hummus? We put participants from Egypt, Iraq and Sudan to the test to try and identify which Hummus was home-made and which was purchased from the supermarket. Enjoy!

Falafel ? Tabbouleh ? I’m not Arab but I’m mixed Romani heritage and I eat hummus in pitta with falafel and salad and tabbouleh with tahini. Tastes schukar (beautiful) am just tellin’ y’all now :)~.

mmm, i miss good humus. its so hard to get in north America. most of it has the texture of sand. growing up almost every day before breakfast, my parents would send me to the bakery for bread, then i would stop and buy some humus, foul, and imsabaha, oh and some fresh laben. i miss those days.

Channels like this are what I love about KZbin. I’m so ignorant about Arabs. 🤦🏽‍♀️ that whole Mediterranean olive skin tone just confuses me. I think all Iraqis look like Sadam Hussein and all Syrians look like Bashar Assad and all Yemeni looks like Adam Saleh. 😂😂 So I would never guess that the Iraqis in this video are Arab. Many Arabs from Iraq to Syria to Lebanon to Palestine can look pretty white and many Southern Europeans can look kind of “Arab” I say this as a Southern European that has the typical Mediterranean look as I AM Mediterranean after all anyway.

I can conform that most of Egyptians don't even know of hummus. I'm an Iraqi studying in Egypt and when I ask for hummus they get confused. It's been I year since I had one lol.

Every grilled meats place that I've been to there serves hummus as a side dish. People there call it the poor man's food because of how cheap and common it is so I'm surprised by what you're saying. Edit: I confused hummus with lentils as being called a poor man's food but the grilled meats thing is true

Ali WD yes we don't eat chickpeas in egypt as "hummus" we eat fool made from fava beans beside tamiya "Egyptian falafel" and the reason why hummus and levantine falafel are popular and famous in western countries is due to the mass migration of levent people to the west throughout the last century while EgyptIans were not fond of immigrating so much
