How well does a New Balance 990v6 hold up after a year of wear?

I have owned my grey pair of 990v6's for about a year now. In this video I give a full rundown of my thoughts on the shoe after one year of wear.

I admit I never thought of NBs until last year, always Nike, (Jordans) Adidas. I found a pair of 992s and the comfort was mindblowing, quality...I totally agree is well made. Fast forward to Dec, I did find these 990 V6 at a Platos Closet, insane price the condition was amazing and again...unreal comfort. But with ANY sneaker I find at one of these stores...I will deep clean them inside and out. I had no issues with cleaning the V6, suede. Used that 'reshoevinator' cleaner and lightly went over the entire outer part...but still getting that foam to get the sneakers clean. Could already see after dab drying the gray was much more brighter/cleaner. I let it air dry. That suede will feel hard / "crunchy"..thats true, but I was able to totally revive that soft buttery feel again using a suede brush all over it after it dried. I did the same when finding a black pair of 990v3 a few weeks ago. These are just amazing sneakers, comfort and quality!

I need a pair of 992s! Finding a pair at Plato’s closest is such a steal, such a great place to find cheap clothes. I’m always super scared to clean suede because of the water ruining the suede. Thanks for letting me know it’s okay and that all I have to do is use the brush to revive it! I really appreciate it! Enjoy those new balances!

Didn't know you were from Canton/Stark Co area! Saw your video a few days ago, where you help your bestie on his first NB purchase, lol, and saw the Football Hall of Fame bridge as you guys where driving up to the mall... Funny thing is I'm from Cuyahoga/Cleveland, Rocky River area. Pretty random cool thing indeed. Real talk tho, we def need to find more peeps like us around these parts of NE-OH and meet up to hype/nerd/geek out on NB's or hell even start a local NE Ohio New Balance addicted owners/lovers/sneaker club or something along those lines... i bought v6 on the releasing day, pretty much wearing it everyday for 2 months and the outsole got flatted so bad. contacted new balance and they replace me with a brand new pair, after almost a year wearing it, the traction is still not that bad, so i guess the first batch has some rubber issues.

That's very interesting that they flattened. I am glad they were able to replace them!

I just bought this today and I think it will last a good long time because of how thick the rubber outsole is

How’s the support vs the 990v5? I took my v5 on a canoe trip as my wet shoes and they still are going on 4.5yrs of wear. The grip is gone but great shoe.

The support on the v6 is not as good as the v5 but that is because it is a more squishy midsole. In my opinion the V5 is the most supportive 990. By no means does the 990v6 lack support but compared to the v5, the v5 wins. 990s really do last forever!

Yes, the more you wear them, the better they fit. They will mold to your feet and fit great

@samdopkosky thanks for the swift reply bro, the reason is that I just got the teddy santis burgundy in my TTS standard width, and they fit great though a bit roomy but i felt a bit snug on my right foot as they a bit narrow hence the question

I brought my first serious pairs of NIKE Airs in 1990. And subsequent shoes. They lasted forever back then, and they weren't $175

Back then Nike made some really high quality sneakers. The materials they used were a lot better than the ones they use today. I promise you that New balance's quality 990 will always outlast a Nike in today's world!

@@I_hate_charlatans_like_mkbhd They were the best back then. Besides according to many reviewers they still are. They have perfected the rebound to a science. I dont care for their advertising however, too many border jumpers in them.

So true, when you bought Nikes back in the late 80s, early 90s....the quality, the materials...how they were made were FAR FAR better compared to today.
