How Well Does The Traxxas TRX-4 Comp?? [Part Two of My First Scale Event]

In this video, I take a look back at my very first scale event with 801RCC Builds and Adventures here in Utah! For this part in the three part series, I want to take a look at how my TRX4 Bronco performed on the sheer walls and technical sections that are so often found in crawling competitions.
I start by placing a caveat on my perspective of how well my truck did in this competition by reminding everyone that the more experienced you are as a driver, the more successful you will generally be in competitive environments. This is not only because experienced drivers know how to get their trucks where they want them, but also because they can more easily see the best lines to take through difficult sections.
That being said, I believe the TRX4 did great in this competition, especially thanks to the few mods that I did in order to take it from a trail-oriented truck into something with a bit more scale rock climbing potential.

I just bought a trx4 blazer version. I was impressed box stock. I did 1 run then the next day I did a second run in all the same spots as the first and it performed even better. Just waiting on wheels in the mail to mount my hyrax tires on. I also reversed the bumpers and lifted the body a few millimeters for better ground clearance and bought a 1400 mah 3s lipo to mount on the front of the chassis and took the centre mount out. Now it performs very well! Thanks for the vids!

That’s a great set up you’ve just described! I personally love the TRX-4, and maybe it’s bias from that being my first truck, but I really feel like they are just so well built and fun to run! Thanks for checking in and sharing, though, I appreciate that! 🤘🏼

love your vids man keep it up! Quick question tho, what front bumper would you reccomend, i have the blazer and im looking for something good. Currently have the trx4 sport front bumper installed. id take rear bumper reccomendations as well. Cheers!

Much appreciated!! As for your question, I actually use a Defender rear bumper on my Bronco that I quite like, but I also have an RC4WD Double Steel Tube bumper for the rear that I may pair with their matching front bumper in the near future. My current front bumper on the Bronco is a GPM, but I am not a big fan of how far it sticks out-thusly the idea to switch to the steel tube bumpers instead. I'd say the most important factor is how the bumper effects your clearance, but personal style preference also plays a big part in your final decision as well. My favorite bumper that I've got is probably the winch-ready tube bumper that came on my RC4WD TF2 Marlin, just because it's small in all the right places (near the corners) while still being large enough for a full-size winch, and it looks pretty killer with the rig.

I've got a Wraith Spawn that I've modified and tuned to perform as good as a comp Rig it's set up as a sloppy wrecker rig I've used my old tyre's as liner's to add weight to my wheels it's worth the look if you're interested

That's awesome! The Wraith is a super good option for these 801RCC events, but I don't see as many out at the 10-gate comps. I wonder if it's just a function of the size, since 10-gate comps usually have pretty narrow gates. Either way, thanks for checkin in! 🤙🏼
