In the case of Yakkity Yak, it was a cartoon show that was shown on the Nickelodeon channel, -I think it was made by the creator of Camp Lazlo and Rocko's Modern Life.- It literally had the tagline. "This show is just plain stupid" and yes that was the selling point. Needless to say, it didn't do so well, and was cancelled after several episodes. Mainly due to poor ratings and competition from other shows like spongebob. Edit: the creator was not Joe Murray,

I actually hate those ads (usually for deodorant or body sprays) that basically go "use this product and several/many/all members of the opposite sex will want to touch and/or kiss you even though they're strangers and you don't know or care about any of them". They actually make me hate the product they're advertising... All I've ever wanted was a real, meaningful long-term relationship with somebody who truly loves me. None of that random shallow crap. So even as a child/teenager, anything like that just bothered me. Same thing if I'm watching a TV show and the characters are just flirting with random people or going after people for their looks, etc. It just turns me off the show completely.
