Hey I recently bought a bike with a 700c Alloy frame and 700c x 25c tyres. But I feel the tyres are too skinny , I really want them thicker and wider. Is it possible? And how thick can I go? Also , the wheels feel kind of too big , is it possible to also make my wheels smaller? Sorry I know nothing about bikes. The big skinny tyres just makes me feel awkard and unbalanced

Looks like you are looking for 28MM version thickness. Go-to any bike shop and see how you like 28mm thickness.

You must find out the internal width of the wheel before putting on a larger tire. The internal width of the wheel will determine how large a tire can go on. To not check this is courting danger.

I only ride 23 mm. We have roads quite good here and the 28mm don't fit anyways :))

I went through this today on my 20 year old Jamis Satellite. I have 700x23 tires and decided to try 700x28 tires (from my wife's bike, including her rims). All my measurements prior to doing it were giving me the same conclusion - 25mm will fit, 28mm should? Anyway, I even removed air from the tires to go through the brake calipers, seated the wheel/tire from my wife's bike and the front was close but no cigar (I couldn't even inflate it fully and ran out of room). The rear fits the 28mm. So, I may ride 28mm in the rear and 25mm in the front. Lesson: be liberal with your measurement. You'll probably need another 2-4mm more than what you think. Any issues with mismatched (different size, same brand) tires? Does anyone know?

If you have very little to almost none space between your tyres and your frame/forks, the dirt coming from the tyres will soon wear those areas (frame/forks) prematurely. Just because the tyres fit doesn’t mean it’s a good idea because you could be damaging other components.

No problem with different widths - wider in back supports your weight better, assuming 55/45 rear-to-front weight distribution. Wider in front cushions your wrists and is less likely to slide in a hard corner.

Mr beast they are not true so they wobble. You need to true them. My advise get it true in a bike store and ask if the 28MM can be fitted. In most cases you can fit 28mm especially if you got older 700c style from 80s/90s?

@@adm7038 Fixed in this example, but you can probably see the rim with is not an issue. Plenty of room to fit wider rims. Hope that helps.

Tbh 28mm are not used that often. If I were you, install it and see how it goes. Depending on the fork it should work, but expect a very tight fit. You will have 2-3mm gap based on my pencil measurements.

Hi anyone tried a 25mm on the pinarello dogma 65.1 think 2? I've paired mine with the enves 3.4 and I noticed they will rub the chain stays quite closely. Are the old 65.1 dogmas compatible with the enves on a 25mm tyre?
