With 2 camera they can make depth map of the area like I explained in the video.

I have already made a tutorial on this but the rover is 3d printed. You can do one thing make the structure from cardboard and just use the electronics and code from my project.

Creating a contour map from disparity was my final year software project in 1992. Due to the lack of computing power, we settled with disparity map only.

I tried make from scratch using two camera, couldn't get the calibration right so I just used a depth cam instead 😅

I don't remember the exact name. ISRO made thier own system. See the research paper.

It's ok with the cameras. But since it is in the south pole, the solar panel (the only power source) will have to face sun always. From the animated videos it seems that the solar panel cannot be turned. That means the rover will have to move in a STRAIGHT LINE always. That is a big limitation.

Range is only 500m and 14 days so going in straight line is ok.

Rover is semi autonomous. It can only do basic things. ISRO plans its path and send the command to rover then rover follows them accordingly.
