I'm assuming the centrifugal forces won't let the prop blades move forward much if at all while the engine is producing thrust.

Yeah exactly right, for whatever reason even when they aren’t spinning much, they tend to stay open. Some sort of magic I assume

@@PureGlide well, if they are not spinning much, they are creating drag, and that force pushes them backward and keeps them in place.

@@PureGlide 🛫📖🛬 Thanks for the reply. Is there any sacrifice or trade-off in performance by having the extra weight of that motor on board? If so, can you approximately tell me how much and in what areas of critical flight situations, instead of being a help would it be a hindrance? How much does your glider weigh and how much does the motor weigh if you have the time to tell me. GOD Bless

Simple and effective. One thing I always curious about is how the non foldable two blades works
@welshpete12
@welshpete12 Жыл бұрын
Look up how an aeroplane wing works . It's exactly the same shape. It simple pulls the plane along. It's very similar to how a propeller works on a ship . But of course it pushes it , not pulls it .
@R.B_B
@R.B_B Жыл бұрын
@welshpete12 That's not my question. I probably make wrong. My question is how the gliders with electric or gas powered retractable motors with two blade propellers align the propeller when they retract.
@adriandocherty5350
@adriandocherty5350 11 ай бұрын
@@R.B_Bthey are generally used on self launching folders and the engine is in the fuselage and the pro is belt driven on a pylon and when the engine is stoped there is a thing called a prop brake which stops it when it’s online to fold away in the correct orientation.

I had a small fan (home cooler) with rubber blades (it can be safely touched when running at full speed). It was working many decades until I borrowed it and he put it in a bad way without supervision, so engine burned out.

I have been watchign there content but is that not a custom glider? I also, I live in the eastern US so we don't really have mountans like the Andes. I wonder if it could be done with solid rockets. I just don't think theres a long enough burn on them. Most of them expell there energy withing 5 seconds. I don't even know how to calculate amount of thrust needed to lift a glider not to mention structural bla bla bla. No way I could manufacture a liquid rocket engin with any semblance of safty / reliability. Also a pressure suit would be needed. I have a lot of stupid ideas lol. Id better just get my licence first!@@PureGlide

Funny you should mention that, as they exist! They've been around about 10 years now. Unfortunately the glider I can afford is from 1987 :) Stay tuned I want to make a video about them. In the meantime google www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=js1+jet+glider&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

@DanFrederiksen 2 жыл бұрын
@@PureGlide That's turbojet, not turbofan, important distinction. All airliners use turbofan engines, much more fuel efficient than the older turbojet type. The difference is that the jet engine drives a bigger bypass fan, a bit like a turboprop but without all the awful. turbojets are quite fuel hungry but the long distance record belongs to a turbofan engine. 40000km without refueling at 500km/h. aint no cessna doing that. small turbofan engines have the potential to totally revolutionize GA. yet no one makes such an engine. it's a travesty. a pressurized glider with turbofan engines and a wing built for 700km/h could be magic. private jet freedom for car money.
