@AdmiralSnackbarz3 күн бұрын
Stupid
@mmin2982 күн бұрын
@silverXnoise not the president only but the overall political environment. To say he has nothing to do with it is dubious. But not entirely or close to his fault. My comment is to what people think the economy is over all. Why they are worse off overvall. Perception in your daily and personal needs that skyrocket mean everything and stocks and bonds and other economic indicators that show us being ok is nothing to poor people that have nothing. Yes partially it's people spend more than they make. But if you want consumers, which are the driving force behind the economy to buy stuff. Then wages and other factors like housing car prices and food going up mean less consumer spending. Or more or same consumer spending that leads to debt. Its a vicious cycle for consumers.
@mmin2982 күн бұрын
Its not necessary the president fault. My comment was to why people think the economy is bad and why they think the country is bad overall in the economy. Poor people without assets and wealth do not see there assets rise with the economy. All they see is cars going up in price, houses going up in price, food going up, movies going up hell fun in general is going up in price. So only rich people or people with assets see an improvement. Regular people that are living paycheck to paycheck even if they aren't budgeting right will see the economy as bad. Some of it could be put on people with economic illiteracy. But most of it is on the economy.
@mmin2982 күн бұрын
Things I like to think about. No more monopoly on Healthcare and insurance. No more lobbying unless it's by citizens not corporations. No more stocks for government officials till out of office. A different tax system that does not benefit from tax right offs that can only benefit those with wealth to begin with. Maybe a straight tax idk. Definitely something different than what we have. Forcing companies that want to deal with the us health market to price medication properly and not 150x the price. We could still have the best rnd and provide awesome service and the best technology even if we reduce the burden on people paying for the services. Lower taxes can incentivize businesses to invest more in capital, leading to job creation and economic expansion. There is alot we can do if people get together and make good well placed plans and execute them. But it's the government we are talking about sooooooo

He wasn't the best but there's 3 things he'll never get full credit for: mutual defense pacts with Asian countries to set the stage for an Asian NATO, the biggest infrastructure bill since 1950 (we see the investment breathing life into infrastructure all over my city alone), and the chips act which will secure our tech sector. All these will affect our security or R&D for generations and it sucks he'll never get full credit because the lay person won't understand how vital they are. I'll also add medicare directly negotiating drug prices with manufacturers. Hopefully that trend drastically expands. You were boring, uninteresting, and just did your job. Thanks old man.

He commuted the sentences of everyone who had been sentenced to home confinement as a result of COVID-19 (not a pardon). One of the White House’s lawyers should absolutely have caught that, and removed that evil prick from the larger cohort, but in this case it sure seems more likely to be the result of careless incompetence rather than anything intentional. Pardoning his son was worse.

“We’re thankful that the Biden administration played the long game on sick days and stuck with us for months after Congress imposed our updated national agreement,” Russo said. “Without making a big show of it, Joe Biden and members of his administration in the Transportation and Labor departments have been working continuously to get guaranteed paid sick days for all railroad workers. “We know that many of our members weren’t happy with our original agreement,” Russo said, “but through it all, we had faith that our friends in the White House and Congress would keep up the pressure on our railroad employers to get us the sick day benefits we deserve. Until we negotiated these new individual agreements with these carriers, an IBEW member who called out sick was not compensated.”

He's old but he knows policy, has 50 yrs. public service experience and he is articulate! His policies reflect democratic party values and years of negotiating with his peers and the Republicans. The capitalist, market driven economy only values profit and shareholders' dividends--- not the worker (Amazon), nor his safety, not the public welfare (Boeing), not equal access to goods and services, nor education (Europe has free college education). Social democracies have regulations that provide for all the people, not just the greedy few who pay 8.2 percent tax vs. your 33 percent.

But I don't deny the facts of presidential terms, the actions of the president and the results. And I would be in denial to pretend he doesn't have a multitude of serious mistakes and bad decisions that have caused deaths and damage. Respect is earned as much as it can be tarnished, and I've never been in the habit of giving blind respect when we can see the history behind the man, that's why it's more important to think critically regardless of the person's title and responsibilities
