Right to buy is a bad idea, there is now a shortage of social housing because of it. Now people have to rent expensive private homes

The worst thing they ever did was the right to buy they should of just given the people some money to get out and buy . We are in a toatle mess in britain as the councils do not have any social housing to help people just because of the right to buy policy . The people who bought are happy but the rest have been left with poor housing .At the very least they should of put a clause in the house has to be sold back to the council if they want to leave at the price they paid.

The right to buy a council house was booming under Tatcher government. It looked like a good thing and it was for some tenants that got themselves a bargain. But the intention of Tatcher was really to get rid of council houses.😏To speed up the economy by privatisation.

selling of the council housing was the biggest mistake in the U.K. . Now the councils and government subsidise rents for those less fortunate with the ever increasing budget of housing benefit
@paulbroderick84386 жыл бұрын
Some people find it more convenient to rent as against outright purchasing. There needs to be a market to enable people to rent per the private market and not be reliant upon local councils. Plenty of room at the inn for the next 'boatload', no doubt!

Modern people nowadays need to pay for expensive things, when they could live less demanding lives and build their own homes like old times.
@dujardinmtl5 жыл бұрын
I agree that people wants expensive things because of the publicity and social media that makes us think that we can afford whatever the neighbors have as if we all had the same salary. But building by ourselves is difficult nowadays because of the price of the land and also because you won’t have the public service that you need. . Like roads, sewage, train or subway. We need more densification so high rise and the developers need to adapt to the the entire variety of buyers and not only to the wealthier sector. Of course they have to make money but there is also a way to make money by answering to the needs of less privileged people.

People are going mad.In Asia the houses are still cheap.Food still cheap.We are lucky.In my country only the Chinese are greedy so they have to pay more for everything.It is always good not to be greedy.When you are greedy you find life will become very difficult and unhappy.Most of the Chinese elders are sent for care.,People don't be greedy.

People on this comment section really need to motivation in life! Right to Buy is a good thing, it lefts you buy ‘OWN’ a property you’ve lived in for a long time probably a house you’ve grown up in. It’s everyones right to own a house. Plus with that Equity you can do so much more, the bank will lend you money if you want a business, or buy another property if you got a bigger family.
