Forgiveness is indeed a process. I have been trying to forgive totally my parents for unreal abuse and betrayal and more. I made the decision to forgive them as early as 2007. I went no contact since then. They have even passed recently but I still have remnants of resentment and can’t seem to rid myself totally of this . Please Heavenly Father in Jesus name deliver me from all resentment. I do not want to give Satan any foothold whatsoever in my life in Jesus name. I want Gods wisdom in my life period. Please Lord heal me. I’m so tired of this burden. 12/26/24

@nickferraro5704. This kind of betrayal from parents is indeed so difficult to deal with. I understand. I had a wonderful Christian therapist when I was first diagnosed with CPTSD & he told me just make the decision to forgive them & tell them on the phone or a letter and just ask God to eventually give me the feeling of forgiveness later bc when I made the decision to forgive them I felt no forgiveness at the time. Forgiveness is a Process not an event. Keep asking God to help you with this. I’m still struggling with this but at least I made the decision to forgive back in 2007. I continue to pray to God to facilitate this. I’ve had to just trust God to complete the process with me. I lift u up in prayer to facilitate this in ur life also Nick. God’s blessings upon you. Don’t be so hard on yourself. This is such a deep betrayal by the ppl who were supposed to love & protect us. Have patience with yourself and just keep asking God to help you. Don’t ever blame yourself for the abuse you received bc u never did anything wrong. Don’t carry toxic shame that doesn’t belong to you.

Choosing is the right path. You can't wait till you feel forgiving. You have to forgive as you want to be forgiven; you love them as you want to be loved. You love them as Christ loves you, I think. (If anyone wiser in the matters of Christianity wants to correct me, please do.) They were after all just human beings. Obviously only God in heaven has the right to judge. The rest of us are under him, and we don't have the right to pass judgment on our neighbors. It doesn't mean you would trust them with your intimate feelings if they had been still alive, but you don't hold past deeds against them anymore. I had a problem with forgiveness too.

Strength through Christ! 🙏 I need prayers please. Mom lives with me in my home and diagnosed with Dementia. I cannot walk away from the verbal abuse. I have learned to not take it personally but it is just so exhausting. I don't want to let the enemy steal my joy. Having to live with someone so negative and unhappy and dealing with dementia has been the biggest challenge of my life. For sure I cannot do this in my own strength. I have excellent Caregivers who have been an answer to prayer and I am learning to go to the Lord with all my burdens. Just would appreciate some extra prayers. It has been over 2 and a half years. Having a very difficult time counting this all as joy...lol. But that's what the scriptures teach me.❤
