Strength of schedule will be the currency for at large bids in the expanded CFP era. ACC and XII scheduling agreement is a necessary response to SEC & B1G agreement.

Better to play a more interesting game with a closer P2 or a conference opponent as an ooc game. Recently read that a home/away between FLORIDA and NCSTATE was cancelled. Not good news for NCSTATE; however, it was replaced with an officially ooc home/away with UVA. This choice evidences that fans (and therefore the media) prefer regional games and vs. big brands over matchups between vanilla middle competitors with no history, etc. Both the BIG12 and ACC schools would be better off scheduling more P2s and/or increasing in-conference games rather than some scheduling agreement. Exceptions would be ACC and BIG12 schools in overlapping regions, etc. (such as WVU).

I would like to see Oklahoma vs Nebraska every year. Will the ACC create a scheduling alliance with the B12? With alliances, hopefully the standard is more top OOC games and if schools don’t schedule tough OOC, then they should be penalized for CFP ranking. WVU & UF showed this year that fans want more P4 OOC games. UF has 3, WVU 2. Kudos to both schools.

IOWA plays IOWAST every year. Why wasn't the NEB/OK game continued? There's a very confused PSU fan that regularly posts, whose position seems to be that PSU can't play PITT annually due to something or another. IOWA (another B1G member) can have an annual ooc.

First, I just want to let you know I appreciate your channel. I wish Lock on B1G wasn't virtually unwatchable because it's just a guy ranting with zero acknowledgment of the facts. Second, I wish WVU had some of those coin toss games go their way. I feel like this has shades of last season. WVU may be on the Nebraska track of simply being a player or two away from turning the tide their way. But you did get screwed on scheduling. You're the USC of the Big 12 except USC has no excuse for losing to Minnesota. In terms of your question, yes, I think the Big 12 should have a scheduling agreement with the ACC, PAC-12, and Mountain West. These scheduling agreements are common in basketball. And technically it's been happening in football like Army/Navy and ND/USC. If the university presidents don't want to eat the $22 million in revenue sharing, then yes, every conference and president has to drive up the value of their existing product. I don't think it means the Big 12 can never play P2 schools, it just means it'll be less likely to be able to play the top of the league in the nonconference going forward. The scheduling agreement isn't the major issue. It's the fact that the P2 schools want more guaranteed spots because their top teams will be eating more losses. We all want to see the SEC stop playing FCS schools in October and November. Imagine if LSU already ate the loss to USC and still had to play a tough SEC foe this year instead of South Alabama as they did. I'm sure they'd want assurances that if they have 3 losses on their schedule, they're not going to be left out of the playoffs over a 2-loss Kansas State team. Will the Big 12 accept 2 guaranteed playoff spots if the P2 gets 3 in a 14-team playoff or 4 in a 16-team playoff?

The SEC And B1G 30 years ago were quite further ahead in revenue than WV. What’s changed is the numbers are being talked about. I don’t think it will hurt WV anymore than it has in the past. We know there is a disparity. It’s being smart with the money being spent. Look at A&M; massive budget and NIL and they don’t win championships. WV needs to “moneyball” their budget.

Also they had 3 if 5 top football recruiting classes and could not turn that to wins like Georgia and Alabama did with the most wins and national championships.

Political interferences resulted in VATECH/PITT. b) Notwithstanding T-Road support for UCONN, the football schools and former BIGEAST have kept UCONN out. How UCONN acted during the BIGEAST collapse is a material reason why. c) The ACC didn't need basketball focused expansions. d) I doubt that the B1G has won a single basketball title during your referenced timeframe. Big12 should do a scheduling agreement with the ACC... Although not equivalent, it could help both conferences media payouts
@tarheel7406
@tarheel7406 Күн бұрын
Why? How? Granted, renting is different than buying, but the ACC internally considered every new BIG12 member and passed. The ACC's top half should still be able to schedule current P2 teams easily enough. The former BIGEAST and similar members of the current BIG12 and ACC should consider scheduling each other more. The wise choice seems to be the rifle rather than the shotgun.

@@tarheel7406 no B10 or SEC team is going to schedule the Virginia Techs and North Carolinas if the SEC and B10 do the scheduling agreement plus a 9 game conference schedule. Sure FSU and Georgia tech might be grandfathered into games.... So what is NC State and Louisville and Virginia going to do .. play MAC teams ... Many already consider the B12 to be a superior product. They can only help each other until FSU and Co join the Power2 between 2030 and 2036.

@@xmositoxc147 VATECH and NCSTATE are general overall peers of MICHST. Both are Tier 2 ACC flight risks; both would be of interest to the SEC if it goes to 24. Both should be able to schedule current P2 schools, especially mid or below. L'VILLE is a Tier 3 ACC flight risk, and it already has an annual with KY. UVA is a Tier 1 ACC flight risk and shouldn't have material difficulties in scheduling current P2 teams. Many BIG12 fans consider the BIG12 superior. Most on the outside don't. Other than the former BIGEAST members, I don't see any interest in a scheduling agreement with the BIG12. The ACC members that are near certain to move to the SEC or B1G would be better off starting that transition via ooc games with their future home. Again, there's no reason for the ACC to pay for a full buffet when a la carte is cheaper and better suffices.

I'm finding it hard to care who WVU football plays anymore. I've never felt this down on our program. No let up. The Huggs debacle and subsequent crash of the basketball program and this ongoing slow death of the football program. Hell, there's more joy in women's/men's soccer, women's basketball, and baseball. Hell, I've started to follow the women's volleyball team. But as you said Couz, I think their greed will kill college football. I can truly say that I really don't watch games outside of the Big 12 now anyway, so if the SEC/B1G want their alliance, they'll get it, but I won't be watching because it will mean nothing to me unless one of the Big 12 teams gets into the playoffs.

Non-P2 football programs will not be able to compete at the Tier 1. The decline may be swifter for some, but it's inevitable. Tier 2 football will be fungible. Trying to finance and remain Tier 1 competitive will drain resources from other sports. All of the eventual P5 remainders should accept this reality, finance their football to be Tier 2 competitive, and focus on men's basketball and other select sports.

a) The SEC/B1G likely know how the top of the ACC will eventually scatter, so they can continue the squeeze, which may accelerate the scatter. b) I wonder if any current SEC/B1G team with an annual out of conference rivalry game would support or perhaps be exempt from some scheduling agreement. These include FLORIDA and IOWA. Continued rivalry games for OREGON and WASH for the long-term seems uncertain. c) I don't see enough interest between the ACC and BIG12 for a scheduling agreement, though I can see some specific members wanting to consider on their own. You explained why WVU would be one, frankly as I've noted many times in the broader realignment picture. (Again, some inconsistency on Couz's part.) d) If P2 schools that already have an annual rivalry game will be exempted, perhaps PSU or MARYLAND were prefer a set annual with WVU rather than go potluck as part of an agreement? Just some initial thoughts with a higher probability of missing something.
