1019. This week, Jonathan Small, author of "Write About Now," shares what he's learned about the common struggles writers face throughout their careers. His book highlights stories from bestselling authors about their beginnings, the risks they took, and how they handled early rejection. I was especially surprised by the stories of shockingly bold moves that launched more than one successful author's career. If you've ever wondered how authors get a foot in the door or get through failure, this episode is for you.

I love this. Thank you. That was a juicy source “you-can-do-it” boost. I’m adding Mr. smith’s latest book to my will-read list.

23:21 - If the agent was correct that no one writes mysteries in the style of Agatha Christie any more, and if the author really prefers to write in that style, then I would advise the author to stick to that style -- so that she's creating something that stands out from thousands of other modern mystery novels. As a huge Agatha Christie fan myself, I would love to find another author who can craft a really good mystery in Agatha Christie's style, and I'm surely not the only one.
