Rusev, with Lana by his side, was a classic wrestling foreign heel updated for modern WWE, and it seemed that they wanted him as a main event superstar. But then, things started to go south very quickly indeed.

Kane & Triple H was in a necrophilia angle, Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit involved Angle's gold medals in Benoit's pants, The McMahons constantly got humiliated by DX with toilet humor... you don't see any of them complaining. Not every feud has to have wrestlers cry with "passion & determination" and "dedicate their victory to their family and their mom in heaven" etc.

Does anyone else get the feeling Vince McMahon gave Rusev that push to try and use it as leverage to sleep with Lana? The reason Rusev's push collapsed was because Lana rejected Vince. His way of humiliating Lana and Rusev was to have Lana be unfaithful in storylines and be objectified by other men. That might also explain why he had Nia Jax destroy Lana over and over again when Rusev left for AEW.

Doesn't seem that far fetched, given how there were rumors Vince was jealous of Rusev for dating Lana. Also I'm pretty sure Paul London claimed his push in WWE was killed because Vince found out he was dating someone Vince had the hots for (I can't remember if London himself said that in an interview or someone close to London did).

Given the horrendous way he pushed Sable for no other reason other than she was hot, I would not be surprised if Charlotte Flair was willing to 'Do whatever it takes' to get ahead in the business. Given the way she has destroyed herself physically over the years points to a decaying sense of self worth. Maybe thats why he didn't do anything with Billy Kidman and tried to destroy DDP's career? Because they both had hot girlfriends / wives in Torrie Wilson and Kimberly Page.

There was a rumor going around that one of the main reasons Vince hated Rusev so much was because Vince couldn't understand why Lana found Rusev attractive since Vince thought of himself as more handsome than Rusev.

Some context, Rusev was originally booked to win the Intercontinental Championship during his 2015 storyline with Ziggler & Summer Rae. However Lana announced her IRL engagement to Rusev without notifying management and that apparently gave the two so much heat, Vince canned the IC Title run & ended the story abruptly & said heat followed them for the rest of their time in the company. Also Rusev losing to Cena & Orton on back to back PPV's in 2017 was apparently punishment because he cut his long hair short without notifying management (apparently a big no no) & also tweeted a video where he stated he was going to call out Shane McMahon on SmackDown regarding Money in the Bank (Rusev's return was supposed to be a surprise but him announcing it on Twitter upseted Vince & delayed Rusev's return till after MITB 2017).

With the whole Lana and Lashely thing, they could've just made it look like she was "possibly" cheating instead of making it so apparent. It doesn't seem realistic that a man like Russev would've put up with that. He would've just divorced her. If they made the cheating ambiguous, it would've made his jealousy more believable.

If memory serves me correctly, one of the things that really caused Rusev to get on the bad side of management was when he got a haircut in early-2017 without their permission (which lead to his really poorly booked match with Big Show at Fastlane that year).

It is amazing. When wrestlers like Rusev fail to succeed, "fans" are quick to blame them and have the gall to say they do not deserve the praise. True certain wrestlers waste their opportunities but Rusev did nothing wrong. He worked hard and got over on his own. Sadly Vince told Rusev that the fans were booing him and turn him into a jobber. How exactly do you expect anyone to get over when their own employer has no faith in them? AEW have not treated Rusev any better. Rusev deserved better.

The Rusev and Lashley feud only had like two legit good segments The one where Rusev snaps at seeing them together and beats up Orton and Corbin And the so bad it’s good, wedding between Lashley and Lana But yeah, the overall feud was pretty bad, Rusev lost every single match against Lashley I personally preferred the Rusev Ziggler feud since at least victories were traded

It is amazing. Whenever I promising young wrestler fails certain "fans" are quick to blame the wrestler for their own failure instead of the people booking them. True some wrestlers ruin their own opportunities, but wrestlers like Rusev did nothing wrong. He worked hard, got better on the mic and continued to be impressive in the ring. And yet, When Rusev got over Vince told him that the fans were actually booing him. How do you expect anyone to get over when they are working for an out of touch idiot? Sadly, AEW have not treated Rusev/miro any better. The man should just go to TNA. At least they would treat him with more respect.

Rusev is just another victim of Vince McMahon's overly controlling tendencies, and even with the benefit of hindsight, the reason for burying Rusev is petty as f if you believe the rumors. I have no real confirmations on this, but apparently someone high up in WWE's hierarchy was very unhappy with how close Rusev and Lana were, and the whole Summer Rae-Dolph Ziggler-Rusev-Lana "love tangle" was a real attempt to break them up (ironically, Rusev and Lana are separated now after a brief marriage). The TMZ leak was done by Lana as some form of protest, but cause she was a woman and a non-wrestler, Rusev became the fall guy by proxy. As for whoever was responsible, whoever or wherever you are, I sarcastically clap for you. Yeah, Rusev and Lana are no longer a couple, but I sincerely doubt Lana will want to "passionately hug" you now, especially after what you had done to try and sabotage her then-relationship.

Wrestling fans don't get it. WWE didn't ruin Rusev... he was just overrated. Rusev was always overshadowed by others he aligned with like Lana & Aiden English. His "Rusev Day" thing was made popular by Aiden English and once they disbanded, Rusev did nothing with the gimmick for 2 years other than dance his pecs. It was literally just chants and Rusev did nothing to evolve his character.

In my opinion Rusev was just a pathetic imitation of Vladimir Kozlov, who was a MUCH better 'Russian Brute' Heel. But of course, just as Vince "Vinny-Mac" McMahon ruined the character of Vladimir Kozlov by changing him from a dominant Heel into a pathetic joke (especially when he teamed with Santino), Vince McMahon made sure history repeated itself by turning the character of Rusev into a pathetic joke. So much missed opportunities and wasted potential for both characters. Just my own personal opinion anyway.
