35:26 "Add a junction" just adds the junction with zero rules/timings so it stays on red lights forever, unless/until you create some timings. I'm not sure if there's a quick setup for multi-junction timed traffic lights but that's why it didn't have any green phases on the extra junctions you added, only the first junction you had already set up.
@raistormrs3 жыл бұрын
ah i tried that once too and had the same and then i thought screw it and rebuild the area with a roundabout XD

I've been using Timed traffic lights on all T junctions on a main road and its a sinch to set up. Just auto set up the first junction, then add as many along the main road as you like, then just mirror the lights in each step as the auto set up in the first junction. It only takes a second to set up each junction once you get the hang of it. It's very satisfying to watch the traffic keep flowing on a busy road when the lights are sequenced correctly.

At 20 minutes or so, we have the perfect illustration of the chief flaw of the cloverleaf interchange... the way it feeds traffic coming down an onramp straight into the path of traffic trying to take the offramp shortly after. It's simple and easy to build, but it does break down hard when things get busy...
@unconventionalideas56833 жыл бұрын
This is why in the American South the clover leafs merge onto a lane that is not part of the main carriageway. It is a separate merge lane. This greatly reduced traffic conflict and improves capacity and safety.

I really hope in city skylines 2, they create a modular road system that lets you toggle select features like sidewalks, bike lanes, bus lanes, metro/monorail, decorations, lights, power and water delivery, set back and zone grids. I include setbacks because I'd love to be able to designate main roads with wider setbacks in anticipation of eventually widening the road. As it is, I often toggle elevated sections to prevent zoning on roadways.

The highway-roundabout you were working on at 31:00 has a big flaw. It's still connected with that old bridge across the river. It is unnecessary. Since the citizen have the new highway bridge you put above the old bridge. Instead it is causing a problem, because less citizen use the new highway brigde. By doing that they only burden the roundabout, what they wouldn't do if they just continued on the highway.
@edwardmiessner65023 жыл бұрын
He could have converted the arterial bridge into a highway bridge and copied it for the other direction. But what really bothered me was his routing the freeway over the arterial road beyond the bridge! When he peeked underneath to fix the arterial's traffic the freeway was floating in mid air with no visible means of support!

A tip about Network Multitool: it understands directionality so if you start with the "from" point and end with "to" it'll draw one way roads in the correct direction. 25:35 I'm pretty sure you can easily fit a road under those highway bridges but the way you put it down it goes through the middle of two pillars.

I have one tip for people regarding fixing your traffic, make sure a mod you install works just fine, and well enough together with other mods aswell. I had found and installed a nice looking cable car tram car that went on your train tracks, that is the railway track. And since it was modded, it came with a slow moving gesture, and so it stalled every other intercity train, and braked the entire thing down on my railroads, ASWELL as an road overpass that most of my cims were using for an unknown reason. This caused miles long traffic jams cause of the cable car. So to solve this, I went back on steam, manage to find an updated version of this cable car, which was good, as I could keep the best of both worlds at my plate. I uninstalled the previous mod and I installed the new one, that allowed for the Cable car model to drive around on the actual tram tracks instead of the railway, and reset my game to have it all fall into place. It solved my slow moving intercity trains, but the blockage still appeared for my cars. So I turned the button for allowing for intercity trains to enter off, and this slowly took away the continuous hot traffic from the track and releases some of my stuck cars too. I also tweaked the road so the cars had a timed crossover red light, green light, and just not stop for anyone when they wanted to come through. This problem can often be a huge problem for those players that build in specific ways, as they want to use as many mods and ideas that they can come up with in their city, and when they bump into a traffic jam in a nice looking area, you dont want to destroy the area by putting something else in it, like a roundabout, this could be the fix for just that area.
