I'm named after a breakfast food (Egg), I've been called so many different things. Omelet, pancake, waffles, toast, and my personal favorite, breakfast sandwich.

i have exact opposite problem, i only remember people's gametags/nicknames. but waisting up to a year to learn the names even with daily contact.

"I gotta go water my fish" X'D That cracked me up so much X'D I'm awful at remembering people's names, so I make sure, where possible, that I get their social medias, that way I should encounter them online now and again.

Tip: The more syllables that a name has, the harder it may become for anyone to remember them.

Honestly your method of indexing names with notes is pretty smart, in fact that is something I regularly try to do on VRChat and Discord! Both of those apps have a built-in notes feature in case you need to recall who someone is. It's hard to pull off sometimes in VRC because... well, VR, but I immediately head to the website whenever I meet someone new and log what we did. It's come in handy too because sometimes people will join a world and the notes will tell us both how we met, and it makes for great ice breakers too, for example "you're a streamer and played the suika game!" or "That's right, you were learning to play piano in augmented reality" Just more context in general is really great because the mind takes in so much information and can accidentally filter out stuff when you need it. At the end of the day it's great because if it comes back, it might just shoot you down a rabbit hole and unlock scenarios with friends you wouldn't have otherwise had

I actually don't have this problem with furries but I'm AWFUL at remembering real names. Normal names are boring and my brain rejects them I guess lmao

hahaha I went for a station that sounded cool in my head and is lesser used. So now I am Latimer! Having a unique name seems to have helped people remember it haha

I specifically make my tags (e.g. "Seán" is my fursona's name; "SeanVGM" is my Smash tag) derivatives of my actual name ("Sean") to avoid being addressed in multiple ways in person (for my own sake). Super helpful info, thanks for the insights here!

I just learnt about your channel a few days ago, and I can’t stop watching your videos! You’re so calm and chill, and it’s hard to find people like that sometimes. You inspire me to be more calm and chill for my own KZbin channel, so thank you While I’m just joining the fandom (not even sure yet if it’s right for me), your videos have helped me realize what this fandom (or passions in general) are truly about. Very powerful words here and listen I would wait until you feel comfortable with joining the fandom and if you do decide to join I wish you the very best of luck in the fandom and to never ever let others get you down keep your head up high and focus on the positive side of the fandom and what it can offer you

One of the few things that caught me quite off-guard when joining the fandom was the whole custom name IRL thing. I've grown accustomed to it now though! It does mean that I'm now actually known as Razakel/Raza/Raz even though that's not necessarily my character's name though (though I have an OC that's called that). But I just rolled with it anyway XD. It got to the point that whenever I use a character as a representation (or even as fun), they're all Raza. Its weird, but it removes a lot of confusion XD.

I love flowers so most of my fursonas are named after them. My newest is named briar (with the surname bouquet, shes also my ponysona so....) after briar rose. Im hoping my names are memorable enough to remember them. :3(i also have millie with her nickname being lily.)

What i sometimes do is association, trying to set this name into context. What is its name origin? maybe it's a gaming term. maybe its derived from another language or a field of study. if you learn that a friend grew up with kingdom hearts, their furry name which sounds like from that universe makes a lot more sense.

I really enjoined this vid! The “I need to go and water my fish” was really funny I really like your content man you are my favorite furry KZbinr up there with verplex and autumn floofs. I hate when stuff like this happens. I can almost always remember names in this fandom (my character is named after the "villan" in black ops 3) but outside of that (school for example) i cant remember a single name besides 1 or 2 and my teachers.

Im glad that i Go by my sonas Name since age 13. Everyone calles me Meo. Teachers did, Bus drivers, Friends, online Friends and even my dad. It became my normal Go to Name. If someone irl asks me im going to tell them my Name is Meo. Its nice seeing people actually remember me and my Name since i never changed it ❤ its kinda sweet. Most anying Part ist explaining why my Name is meo and that it isnt short for anything. Its meo BC im Not creative and had an emo Phase
