The Black Death is a plague that changed the world. As the most profound epidemic in human history, the plague claimed the lives of millions, with nearly half of Europe's population perishing from the disease. Some feared they were living through the apocalypse amidst the chaotic upheaval, while others turned to sinful pleasure during the plague to distract from the horror. And as for what happened to victims of the plague, well, it wasn't opportune.
Surviving the Black Death wasn't easy. How did someone protect themselves from it and who did they blame when they got sick? What happened to their body as the infection spread? The only certainty was demise; after all, bubonic plague in the Middle Ages didn't spare anyone: monks and nuns perished alongside mothers and their children, rich men, and even royalty.

The problem is.... In some places, the Covid mpryality rate can be as high as 4%(last I checked). And also for some of us, those who live with relatives who are old or work with the elderly, it is extremely risky to do anything. Also any 1 person is enough to bring down an entire area. Example? The philippine province of La Union. It was about to open some more businesses, not yet all, but just 1 person made them rewind all their changes, since the virus snowballed after him. There are many other examples as well. Being part of that snowball would for one jeoperdize people you know who are old, your family, people around you, and not to mention catching the virus doesn't mean you'll be left unscaved. Many times, the Lungs are damaged if the infection is severe.

One thing that history constantly repeats all the time, is don't trust completely information given to you easily by just a few people from one source, and from places with proven pretty questionably tract records, it is ok, but take them with a grain, or a mountain of salt. For random people in the comments, don't trust channels like this so easily, misconseptions, misuage and everything are ridden all over it. Whether it be misusage of data from places like england and italy and applying it everywhere, misuage of the variable mortality rates, using proven misconseptions and fact(being the specific pictures they showed for the medieval masks) and many others.

My uncle and a second cousin doing genealogy tracked one of our ancestors to London during the plague. A girl around 14 years old, only survivor of a family of 6. She went on to marry and have a family, but that's basically all we know about her besides her name. Can't tell if I consider her unlucky to live in London and unable to afford to leave during the the plague or lucky to have a strong enough immune system to survive.

@@isabelg8147 I've wondered if she got sick? Or was she immune? Wouldn't her house have been quarantined? Was she trapped in a house with 5 bodies? How does anyone pick up the pieces after that much loss? On the other side of the coin, I've wondered if she contributed to my strong immune system. In 2003 I was directly exposed to the SARS virus and put in quarantine. I didn't get sick but very bored.

RunningFromABear That is true if her family was sick they probably were all under quarantine, And that’s also a very interesting question if she contributed to your immune system, it’s definitely a possibility. She must have been a great person, very admirable that she was able to keep going even though she was left with practically nothing (what I mean is family, the most important thing) a very strong person. Thanks again for sharing your story I found this super interesting and I wish that there was a way to know more. I have so many questions!
