Hi Brian, Thank you very much for your videos...Your information has helped me with my own training. I have been training since 1995 and like you, I got sick of straight sets. I love to go train and then get out. sitting around in between straight sets was not working for me after all those years and in 2007 I incorporated giant sets as a way of life. using an A1,A2,A3 and then B1, B2 and so on approach. My question is: When you perform your ab/oblique work.....I just watched your New Next Level Linear Program and was wondering. I see you wrote 6 halos each side with a plate ab work and then 8 halos each side with a plate ab work on your volume. Do you pick a plated weight that makes you fatigue on your 6 reps a side? and then 8 reps a side on your volume work? I have been going to failure on my last set of ab work when I am on my last set (or top set of my main lift) and when I get to my volume work I just do my main lifting exercise and no ab work because I killed it on my main lift giant set sequence and just use another ab variation and fatigue it on the next giant sets via secondary giant sets. Please forgive my paragraph length. I know I could of asked this question much shorter in length. I find speaking is much easier to get the message across and find misunderstandings are easier in writing. Again Thank you for your time in reading this question and really appreciate your videos

I keep getting stuck at the bottom of my leg press and squat. Are there any exercises I can do to strengthen my sticking points? (I also get stuck on the Overhead Strict press)
@shuvanhaldar83205 жыл бұрын
Do you go ass to grass on squats? If not i would recommend putting the weight down a bit to where u can go atg no problem, and then bring it up to where u can do 3 reps without to much strain. Everytime u squat try to go up a little, not only did i fix my sticking point, but i can squat more with an even better range of motion now. Also, by atg(ass to grass), i mean u should go low enough to the point where u feel it in ur calves when u initiate from the bottom. It's kind of hard to describe, but just do ur stretches so u can get really low
@cynicaesthetics43415 жыл бұрын
At least in the squat I'd recommend using your hip and stretch reflex more, and lower the weight until you can basically drop your ass until you don't think it's possible to go lower. If you're high bar squatting it might just be because of the general mechanics of the squat, and I'd then recommend low bar
@GeminiEarthSnake5 жыл бұрын
Imagine your knee angle at the beginning of a deadlift, I get stuck just before there. If I stop and push back when I feel it sticking, I can squat 200kg and leg press 400kg, but I feel like I'm cheating. If I can sort this out, I'm hoping it will improve my deadlift.
@cynicaesthetics43415 жыл бұрын
@@GeminiEarthSnake What you're describing is called half-repping, and it's one of the legitimately bad things to do when squatting and / or leg pressing. I used to be a half repper as well, and I fixed it by: Getting comfortable going to depth by dropping the weight SIGNIFICANTLY, even starting without the bar. I also began leg pressing from a depth similar to squatting below parallell, and I started each rep from a dead still. The way you're describing your knee angle in the squat, I'm suspecting that your stance is too narrow. Don't be afraid to widen your stance to accomodate your hip angle at the bottom. I suggest reading starting strength 3rd edition, or at the very least the chapter about squatting. This can be supplemented with squat tips from Rippetoe's youtube channel, starting strength. It's possible to download the book in epf format for free (not sure about the legality of this), and I suggest strongly that you do this. If you're a novice looking to get strong, Rippetoe is the way to go. Reading through the book once will save you hundreds of hours in the gym wasting your time, so I implore you to do it.
