Whenever I write scripts I write is as if I’m writing a novel. I really like Taratino’s approach when it comes to writing because it reflects my train of thought when I try to keep my screenplay as fresh and exciting as possible. Reading a script that basically just goes like “this happened, then this happened, then random dude said this” is really boring. Having a script that keeps you on the edge of your seat and allows you to envision yourself as one of the characters really not only helps you film those scenes later on but also allows the actors to better get there heads into the role. Having visceral descriptions and naturalistic dialogue makes the story all the more engaging and connected with our imagination and reality.

AAAAA to the MEN!! That means “Amen”, y’all!! The Right Reverend Quentin Tarantino is preachin’ here!!! This goes AGAINST the screenwriter’s cliché that a screenplay is merely a “blueprint to make a movie”! Every screenwriting teacher I’ve ever had has always said this, but it NEVER felt right to me! PEOPLE (producers Ave agents) have to read and enjoy the screenplay as an audience in order to see potential in it to sell it then make it into to movie--so it THEN can be used as a blueprint! But FIRST it has to be GOOD LITERATURE before the script gets to that stage! I’m sharing this with MY screenwriting students and we’re going to study Hard Times just because Rev. T recommends it! And let the church say.:.
