The Howa Superlite in 6.5 Creedmoor goes back on the range after some bedding work. I also get to try out the new Maniatis suppressor which I'm impressed with.

I got 2 of them in 6.5 and 7mm-08, and both the stocks were fine, nothing like this. I skim bedded them like I do perty much every rifle they both shot under moa with factory ammo so wont complain.

I got a blem stock once for a sporter barrel but had a varmint one. So spent hours sanding out the barrel channel. Then I bedded the channel. Then I bedded the stock. It fits so tight probably could go without screws lol. But I torqued it to 40 inch lbs and it’s shooting lights out. I also shorted the butt stock. Added a thicker pad. I epoxied the end to have a place to bolt to. This quiet down the stock quite a bit. Turned out pretty good when I was done but it was a lot of work.

I have a carbon Superlite in .308. The fitment on my stock is good. It is the burnt bronze/camo version with the factory brake. I haven't shot any factory ammo in it, but was able to find sub MOA loads with 130 Barnes ttsx and 125 Nosler Accubonds in 2 range trips. Varget is the answer for .308, as H4350 is for Creedmoor...lol

Hey man awesome vid!! I just got a 308 superlite walnut stock as I heard the stocks were average, and put an aftermarket carbon stock on it! Just wondering if you have done anything to your triggers? I had a RPR for hunting, just sold it after my hand fell off during my scouting trip. I need a good “lite” rifle for deer. I thought this was it but after watching people review this rifle idk anymore. It’s only 4 pounds but at a catch it seems. Should I get a tikka with fluted barrel??

I had similar issues with mine. Took a lot of stockwork with a chisel, and then subsequent bedding with epoxy. It shoots okay now but not great. Good enough for me if I keep shots under 300yd. If I did it again I'd buy the wood stocked version for $500 cheaper and bed that as usual.

@@hardantlerhunting9691 Yeah that's another weak point. I'm hoping Jefferson Outdoors will come out with bottom metal soon! I reached out to them and apparently it is in the works. It's a shame this rifle wasn't done right from the factory as it's an awesome concept and form factor. FYI, taking some 200, 400, 800 grit sandpaper to the bolt will make it quiet and smooth. Another thing they didn't do at the factory!

I have had awesome performance from multiple Howa's I've owned but,, I glass bed all my rifles before I even zero them. Glass bedding is easy and cheap. Just buy a Terminal Ballistics bedding kit, around $50, do the work and you have a bomb proof rifle. Never owned a carbon stock rifle though so I don't know how durable they are or aren't.

The two howa’s I’ve owned were for target shooting. I ordered just the barreled actions and bedded them into aftermarket stocks. Both were under 1/4 moa with target handloads. Factory loads were mostly under 3/4 moa. So I had great luck with mine, but also never tried the howa factory stocks.

I bought some 10mm aerated rubber from Clarks rubber and cut it to size, picked up some longer stainless screws and installed so that the LOP went from 13.25 to more like 13.7inches, this made a massive difference in handling. Also the trigger guy spring kits are terrible for follow up shots. Too much like a pen spring they deform when bolt speed is too great and go heavy, cost me a couple of boars on the run, its best to just cut 1 coil off the main spring and re install, weight drops from 4lbs down to 2lbs @@hardantlerhunting9691

need some advise on a short barrel rifle 16-18 inches with a suppressor what calibre would you recommend i have been thinking the 338 fed 95% of my hunting is under 300m although that would mean buying some reloading gear but with the price of ammo that wouldn't be a bad idea
@hardantlerhunting9691
@hardantlerhunting9691 Жыл бұрын
Righto, Resale on a 338 is terrible so plan to keep it. The 338s have a harsh felt recoil too them as well simply due to the size of the diameter of the projectile. My opinion on 338 is it needs to be able to shoot over 250 grain projectiles to be worth the effort and bang them fast. Otherwise dont go past 30 cal. If you search my channel I run some short barrels on the 308, 270s and 284 win. The 308 with a 208grain projectile and a 14inch barrel still outperforms the 338 fed in everyway. If you only shooting to 300 yards don't look past the humble 308 or 7mm-08. If you want to handload and gain more velocity...build an 18inch 284 win around the 180grain projectiles. You will send those big slugs all day at 2650 fps with good handloads out of a short 284win. If you want to go a little faster then build a 20inch 7mm SAUM/ WSM or 300 WSM. I can think of 10 better cartridge's than a 338 Fed.

I wouldnt go shorted than 21inch on a PRC. They need the length to burn. Any 6.5mm magnum needs a long barrel. I did a 24inch 26 Nosler and it lost lots of velocity compared to the 26inch. Around 100 fps.
