Makes me miss old radio. 📻 I grew up in the 80s and radio was everything. Its all I had in my room. I use to be able to get a single TV station on my radio that aired SNL on Saturday nights. 1130 was passed my bed time but I could catch the show on the radio in bed with headphones on. Radio was like the internet. Had news, music and information. Had the tape deck to tape the newest songs. Man kids these days have the entire world at their finger tips. I just had a radio. 📻

I used to listen to RNW in the 1980s they'd play my requests. Wasn't easy to get the signal from Manhattan but it was worth it. The DJs were extremely sharp.

'Concert Rock' were 20-minute segments where we featured music from individual artists. Technically it was misnamed, they weren't concert recordings. We put out a calendar so you could tune in when we were focusing on your favorites.

In this case the idea of Concert Rock is a block of songs together like a concert

The tone of hypocrisy and sarcasm in his voice are quite apparent to me while listening to this 1977 promo.

he knew the format change was going to be a failure. they wanted to appeal to college kids through people in their 30s and they werent going to do that by playing a block of the beatles

From The NYT Feb 5, 1978: 'A new feature of WRNW is “Concert Rock,” aired four times a day, where 17 minutes of one popular group or artist is played'.

Concert rock could be the live rock shows they would syndicate across the country like King Biscuit Flower Hour, or big, heavy rock or "arena rock" acts like Zeppelin and the Who.

then you wouldnt have, because the new wave/punk rock of the 80s format was starting to break
@funkster0073 жыл бұрын
@@thewkovacs316 This was a standard FM rock station. You wouldn't find any punk or new wave on it. What was current then is what you'd hear on pretty much any classic rock station now. Their classic rock was the 60's tunes.
