His music fueled every single spring break/summer of my youth. From “1984” all the way through “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge”. I always knew this day would come. It was still a surprise gut punch hearing the news. Never cried for any other others who recently passed. I was sad for the others but when I heard the news about EVH it stopped me in my tracks. In my garage waxing my car I sat down and shed some tears. I then cued up Van Halen’s first album and just let it play. Volume up as loud as my poor speakers could handle. Thank you Eddie. For fueling my adolescent years with your music. I grew up in the best generation ever and got to experience all of your music as it was released. Hung your pictures from Hit Parader on my walls/school locker and mastered the air guitar. Never looked at my hot teachers the same either. You will be missed but your legacy will live on through countless future generations listening to your music.

There was always talk of who the greatest guitar player was...it always came down to Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen. My vote was always for Eddie and will always be. Everything momentarily stopped when my son told me that Eddie had passed. I sat down and had to confirm it for myself. Horrible news. I can remember my friends and I discovering the debut album when we were in junior high. We did not know what to make of it ( we had never heard a guitar sound like that) but we knew we liked it. We were hooked from day one. I saw VH many times and was fortunate enough to have 8th row floors center stage for one show. I watched Eddie all night. HIs passing really hurts. I'm trying to embrace what was said on Sirius yesterday - don't be sad that he's gone. be glad he was here. Condolences to his family, friends, band mates, and all of the fans.

I was 9. My older brother gave me the LP «1984» and he said «You always ruin my LP's so I bought two: one for me and one for you. Take care of it and enjoy Eddie's solo's. Remember: it's the only one you gonna have, cherish it.» I played that LP so many times i lost count. I was 9!!! That music, those solos grew up with me. When «5150» came out i ask my dad (God rest his soul) if he could buy the LP so I could offer it to my brother. He did. I tapped the album for me and gave the LP to my brother. He saw the tape in my hand and said «Keep the album. I'll take the tape so i can listen to it in my car.» He made my day. Thanks to my brother Eddie's melody's were a part of my pre-teen years. When he went a little bit of that young David went with him. Thank you, Eddie. You will always live in your music and our hearts. And i bet everyone who likes you have a mental photograph of your smile. Rock in Peace, my dear friend and go and say "Hi" to my dad. Bless you.
