We always transferred grain this way Ryan. Suggestion for you is to turn on your bin fan to blow all your bees wings and chaf out so your center of your bin doesn't heat up. And once you fill it take or grind a load or 2 out of the center.

Ryan I don't know if you do it or not but I always run the fans on say the Sukup so fines don't build up in the middle and after your done transferring take a load out of the center of the bin and then you can run the fans during the winter to take moisture down. And next time you build a bin do what you did with the Sukup where you can dump into a wagon into the auger.

I like how you guys managed to Jimmy-rig this grain transfer with the equipment you have on hand. It's not quite on the level of a Rube Goldberg machine, but it's close. Bottom line: it did the job. And just like that, the Sukup bin has been "christened". Thanks for showing us how it's done. And a very Happy Birthday to Jamie!

Oh, absolutely. Considering that their moisture dropped so much before the torrential rain started a few weeks ago along with the finicky/stubborn nature of raising soybeans in general (from what I've seen, at least), they need to be in the bin *yesterday*. There are only so many chances to go out and cut them before the snow flies and accumulates.

@@MatthewHoag77 when it rains the beans actually absorb the moisture and swell up, so when they get wet it takes two or three days to dry them out. With corn the moisture doesn't soak in an once the sun comes out and a breeze blows you can start corn in a few hours. You can dry beans but it's just a pain in the rear to have to do that.

Put a airiation floor in my 25x40 Harvestor with a 5hp 3 phase fan with carry in sweep; next time a power sweep. A Sukup floor. Did not ruin the integrety of the structure. Pleased with set-up.
