Economy has a lot to do with it. I'm an ex New Yorker living in Dallas. To give you an example, I went to see Mets play at Global Life Field back in June. Seats on 3rd base line 25 rows back & spent $40.00 & parking 20.00. New York back in Spring $130.00 & parking 40.00. Food more expensive in NY. That's why so many New Yorkers moving to other states. You would never see so many New Yorkers at visiting ball parks 10-20 years ago. All relocating to affordable states.

💯 feel you. I’m in Texas too. Went to see Yankees rangers and its was not cheap. Edited to add, I also have to drive 2 and a half hours to the park with 3 kids. At the very minimum 1 kid because she isn’t old enough to be home alone. The others are and could watch her. But still me and the wife driving that long. Sitting in the sun in Texas that’s 95 plus with hot a$$ humidity making it worse. It’s just not a fun time to ALWAYS go to the park. When I got A/C and shade in my house 😂

It is definitely about the money! $375+ for our family of 3 (3x70 tickets, 40 parking, 85 food/drinks, 40 hat/t-shirt for son) for a September weeknight game where we have to rush from school/work and fight traffic is not worth it. A weekend game yes but not Tuesday night. LOWER the weeknight ticket prices drastically, especially the Tuesday games and people will come. Next year, we're going to travel to an away game in a cheaper market - almost the same price as a weekend game at Citi Field. Yankees fans seem younger and a lot of them live in the city, Westchester or uptown so the commute to/from the stadium is more convenient...while I see more families at Mets games recently and the weekday logistics of leaving work in city, getting your kids where they go to school in Brooklyn or SI or LI and getting to field is tough.

The Attendance is down for many reasons, parking is outrageous expensive, along with the tickets prices and food, Cohen is a Billionaire doesn't need the money, instead of getting high price players, try giving back to the fans, by lowering the amount of parking, food and tickets, you will see a rise for attendance!!

And they raise the parking fees during the post season play. And in right field Cohen made the club that cost $25,000 to get in that doesn't help the regular fan.

@@jyork9093honestly that does help the regular fan generating income without costing the regular fan more is a way to mitigate the costs to attend. @johncummings5350Ай бұрын
Fellas.... get real.....40 dollars for parking is obscene..... especially with the inflationary period we just went through. You already have ticket prices....food and beverage prices.... maybe a hat or a jersey in the gift shop for the kids....it gets quite expensive. It's not the wildcard issue that's keeping down attendance. It's largely the price of parking added to the rest of the price for the experience. How much are programs these days at Citi Field????
@KnowledgeNerd123Ай бұрын
For the cost of bringing your family to a handful of Met games you can remodel your kitchen, buy a car, go on a vacation, etc. Its insane what theyre charging. If you're gonna bring kids then its better just to go to a LI Ducks game

Attendance: Economics pure and simple. The games are unaffordable to the working class which is being decimated by inflation, job loss, reduced salaries...

Fix the parking and traffic flow and I'll go more often. An industrial engineer with 2 months experience can double the flow. Start by getting rid of the closed exits and forced merges with cones.

You want to increase ticket sales? It's easy. Start selling tickets again! Why do I need to buy a smart phone and download an app? I am over 70 years old and was going every year until they told me I need a smart phone. Do you realize that Baseball fans are the oldest fans and most likely not to be device savvy? First rule of business is make easier for folks to buy your product. They seem to want to eliminate folks.

MLB makes a huge mistake in how they do the Wild Card. Every year, there is a distinct chance that 2 of the 3 Wild Card teams can be in the Championship Round. Every year, there is a good chance that Wild Card teams will meet in the World Series, and like last year a Wild Card team can win the World Series. They have virtually made the regular season and winning a Division , very unimportant. If they are insistent on keeping Wild Cards, they need to have 4 Wild Card teams per league, in a very quick 2 day play-in tournament. On Monday they have WC #4 play @ WC #1 and WC #3 @ WC #2. The next day the winners from Monday's games play the finals for the right to be the Wild Card team in the actual playoffs. You now have eliminated the chances of 2 WC teams facing off in the League Championship series. The Division winners are only waiting 2 days before the next round and the Wild Card representative has used its 2 best staring pitchers and bullpen just to get to the Divisional Round, so they are at a distinct disadvantage. That's how MLB should do it, but they won't because they can't think outside the box.
@chillwill8108Ай бұрын
I’m hoping Acuna have that type of spark like Miguel Cabrera did with the Marlins that year they won the World Series
