The ST II-IV-era warp effect and cloak effect combined with the modern planet render are so beautiful. I wish Discovery had went with this kind of retro aesthetic rather than the generic frenetic dystopian shlock they went with.

No at all bad, but the warp entry noise seems oddly off and way to loud , it would send your average star fleet cadet scrambling “Klingons off the starboard bow “ from 10 forward, plus the cloak used to make a Synthesised buzz and down when activated

Dang! That looks very loyal to the films. I love the sound effects too, specially after the BoP drops out of warp there's a "clank" sound that's very mechanical and fits the appearance of the bird very well. Btw, are you using a camera plugin for the cam animation or using max's keyframing animation? I'm tempted to get camera studio for Max as it's driving me nuts how utterly complicated it is to animate anything in max.
@HowieDay822 жыл бұрын
Oh, thanks! No, this is just normal 3dsmax animation. If I had one item of advice for animating in 3dsmax - the curve editor is awesome.

@@ProvVFX The other thing you can look into is "list" controllers. They allow you to "Stack" animation components like layers in Photoshop. For instance, the camera look-at point in this animation is hand animated to follow the BOP, but *also* has a little bit of procedural noise jitter on top to make it feel less CGI/mathematically exact. It's an older link, but this really gives a good rundown of the process: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKbIZ2eijdOJobM

@@HowieDay82 Appreciate the info. I´ve been using Lightwave for animations and work, but been a 3dsmax user since 5.0 and just done basic keyframing on it. Hopefully I can get some more advanced animations now as I like the arnold rendering capabilities. Thanks man
