@@grandma.pI had no home life, So I used to hang out around all the clubs then, the door men all got to know me and would let me sneak in as long as I kept a low profile...I didn't drink then ..never had a problem...just there for the music

@@KINDOY So in some ways you were quite lucky. I would have liked to do this when I was 14. I loved the blues artists but I don't think anyone in my school knew who they were. A girl I knew in summer camp taught me all about this cool music.

@@grandma.p I was very lucky..when you grow up on the south side of Chicago and love music, you learn about the Blues early, I transitioned from soul to blues at 12-13..started wanting to play..and found out where all the good clubs were..you could get in for just a couple dollars then..and as I said..if you were a young kid and hung out at the front door just trying to listen night after night as I did..and stayed out of trouble and were broke..eventually the door men got to know you and they would just let you in...I saw The Wolf, Muddy, Pine top, little Walter, luther allison, Otis Rush, Little Smokey....most all the great Chicago bluesmen of the 60's by the time I was 17...So lucky indeed..right time right place.

My grandma and papa are from Aberdeen, MS and they consistently talk about the wolf, I recently fell in love with this beast of a man at 6' 3" and close to 300lbs. reminds me a lot of my grandfather.

Lifetime blues fan, longtime Wolf fan. First listen of this song right now on 10/29/2014: best Howlin' Wolf performance and recording I have ever heard. He wails on this version, those crazy two takes on the final verse are some of the finest blues we'll ever hear.

Yes, thanks man. I hope to finally get some additional and new tunes put out in the near future. Here - if i can get it to show correctly - is a Soundcloud clip, part of an hour+ long tape. This part is 45 seconds of me singing and Wolf playing harp (part of his lessons and our blessed great times) -:> soundcloud (d0t c0m) /howlin-sandy/clip-4a. (the d0t c0m) thing of course is written that way here to be sure it shows. :) One of the songs later put on an album was the finished version

I think this is a bit slow or 1/4 note down from it's actual key per the timing however it got that way, but it seems to get better toward the end. It's a nice version of Wolf's song in a good atmosphere. Who did the photos, have not seen them before. Some nice ones especially of Hubert. I'm Wolf's chosen photographer and harp student, friend .. howlingwolfphotos has the story. Thanks for posting it Sandy Guy Schoenfeld

Willie Dixon was not that particular whether his bass was in tune or not. I don't know why this is true. This isn't the only session where I find that to be true. I have his greatest hits CD and many times it's more than obvious. But he always is in time and has great feeling in his playing. The funny part is, when he plays the harder parts, up north on the neck, he's right on. But open strings and stuff are often way off. Maybe his bass wouldn't stay in tune, and he wouldn't interrupt to fix it

what does the best even mean. The fact that you argue about who the best is only shows that you are trying to be a blues nerd. These legendary blues players are all great in their own right. You can have your favorites of course but don't put a crown' on someone that doesn't need one.

I'll tell you this: In the future, take care to point ur toxic shit at the actual correct i.d. of whoever's comment triggered ur rage blabber, incoherent as it, damn - to the point of indicating off-meds schizophrenic or even hypno-programmed mission leakage. And will respectfully suggest: a) giving sobriety a try..b) getting some counseling before social services are further cut off, and c) about what you said... I'd say fix ur grammar but it clearly goes deeper.
