I must be missing something. If the inlet valve opens 5 degrees before the piston reaches top dead centre and it stays on for 45 degrees after tdc, then wouldn't the inlet valve hit the piston when it reaches the top? Thanks for the video!
@ramptramp800610 жыл бұрын
I you haven't already found an answer, most pistons are engineered with grooves to allow for the valve overlap. If you have a more comprehensive understanding by now I'd appreciate you sharing it with me.

Thanks for the explanation. So it is possible that if there is oil sludge inside the cam hub, the hub won't be rotating as it should causing poor engine power?

I have one question regarding the valve timings, in overlap period the inlet valve and exhaust valve simultaneously remain open. There must be some portion of fresh charge discharging from exhaust valve? What is the phenomenon taking place which protects the fresh charge escaping from another valve?
@akashsaxena19211 жыл бұрын
it doesnt,, because the pressure in the exit manifold is higher than inlet,, rather all charge go into the cylinder under suction stroke the low pressure region.

Is this for an automobile 4 stroke engine or a marine diesel 4 stroke engine.
@NisanthVpillaiIndia11 жыл бұрын
Hi, nice explanation. But this is a 4s cycle, so u are only explaining about inlet and exhaust stroke. It would be nice if you could also show the compression and power stroke.
@ramptramp800610 жыл бұрын
I'm struggling to understand what you are asking. The valves stay closed on the compression and power stroke therefore there is no need for valve overlap.
@alexander-vi5nu7 жыл бұрын
is these 2 stroke? or 4 stroke?

please explain for me . the need of closing the inlet valve after BDC in natural aspirated engines,

@krishnamenon60658 жыл бұрын
yes the exhaust valve is open for 240degree
@naeemahmad87988 жыл бұрын
Exhaust valve is opened for 235 degree. 180+50+5=235. 10 degree is overlap. overlap is basically sum of inlet valve lead and exhaust valve lag. in diagram exhaust valve lag is not show which is 5 deegree. but still you can easily find exhaust valve lag from overlap and inlet valve lead.

i need some explanation about the timing of exhaust , inlet , compression , injection of fuel . what are the degrees?
@alexandreguarato9 жыл бұрын
Exhaust valve period is 180+10+50 = 240 degrees, not 235 as showed in this video.
@charlesholloman24009 жыл бұрын
The 10* in your equation is the overlap, not the exhaust valve closing event. The exhaust valve closes at 5* ATDC.
@frkfurkan99798 жыл бұрын
+Alexandre GUARATO see digram carefully.. 180+5+50 or[(180-5)+10+50]
@chathuralasantha49868 жыл бұрын
no bro alex is right i hope exhaust valve period shown in blue that have 180+10+50=240, and also valve over lap is call both valve are open, 5+10 =15 angle time they both are open that means overlap is 15
@Flyinghermit7 жыл бұрын
bro its not because of inertia .. the cam is designed specifically for that so that there are delays . for example a delay in exhaust port remain open after tdc will make addition time for exhaust gas to exit the chamber which in turn increases volumetric efficiency.

no buddy its 235...valve overlap is 10 but exhaust valve closed 5 deg atdc so its 180+50+5=235
