Thanks for your tutorial! I didn't buy hardware yet so I dont have an LED controller, but wanted to check the settings first. All applications installed successfully and I can access HyperHDR from my webbrowser. But the live preview video is massively lagging and totally pixeled compared to yours. Do I need to worry this, as this will be the same refresh rate on the LEDs later? The overview tab shows 94 FPS so that sounds good

@@patrik831 I have an HDMI pass-through box, a cheap Tuya ambilight box right now and I want to upgrade to hyperion/piccap, I already have homebrew channel set up on my LG C1. My ambilight box causes picture issues sometimes and probably wont pass-through al the good stuff( high refresh HDR etc.) but I have it setup with Tuya so I can control the strip with Alexa and I can tell her to change the strip to any color ( weaher the tv is on or off) or I can tell her to turn on the sync function so I want to know if you set this up (I am planning on using a wemos D1 mini) can you sill use Alexa to control WLED and the strip still? how would that work? can you ask it to change the strip to say red if you are watching something and have it switch it solid red and then ask it to turn on ambilight mode again? I also assume the amibilight grabber will work for HDMI inputs on the TV and not just the built in stuff right?

Hi, piccap catch the TV signal and can send it to a Rpi or straght to an esp32 or esp8266. I recommend to send it straght to an esp, because there is no lag or delay. With an rpi you will have maybe a little lag or delay. The HOW TO is outdated. You can root your tv with crashd method or wait for rootmy.tv v3 and all you need then, you can install thru the Homebrew channel.

i been testing my setup and it works until i change apps. I can go from youtube(led work) to Netflix (led off) to youtube(led off) and the leds just stay off until I stop/start capture on piccap app.I know it’s not supposed to work with drm content but when I switch back to non drm content the leds stay off . Another issue is after I turn my tv off the leds stay bright green until I unplug it is there a way to make turn off with the tv. Any help with these two issues is greatly appreciated

Hi Justin, have you tried different backends? Which year is your tv? And when you say your led stay on green after you turn your tv off, have you the latest wled firmware on it? And have you the led button off in the wled app?

But I noticed once I entered drm content and switch back to non drm I can’t see in hyper hdr the live feed is there a way to refresh hyper hdr capturing automatically. Also in WLED I have the latest firmware but I don’t how to make the led turn off when it doesn’t receive a signal from hyperhdr.

I think i know what the problem is with your setup. You have to turn "gui capture" off. That was the same problem at my friends CX. If you havent solve the problem yet, give it a try.

@@3Voc I think he means for power not for control , but I think it depends on which kind of strip you use and how big your TV is, it depends on how much current the strip will draw at maximum brightness. You need to calculate how many LED's and how much current an you need to now the output of the TV's USB port ( how many amps at what voltage) it's better to just use an external power supply and overshoot it and connect the grounds together. an old laptop power supply should be more than enough. I wish I had collected more of them when BB used o have those e-cycle bins in the vestibule of their stores but sadly they went away after covid

this was the case months ago, meanwhile you can use wled in hyper hdr without bugs and you can install all (piccap and hyperhdr/hyperion over homebrewchannel) so its easyer as in this video.

The only advantage of HyperHdr is the HDR to SDR tonemapping. Many Tv dont need this, but enough has a to dark image in the hyperion preview when HDR or Dolby Vision is playing. So the led's are to dimm then. Wirh HyperHDR you can solve this with a lut 3d table.

@@boatoflol weil sk6812 rgbw am besten performen, was farben und weiß angeht. Meine sogar gelesen zu haben, man benötigt bei weiß sogar weniger strom, da nur der weiße channel angesteuert wird und nicht wie bei zbsp ws2812b alle drei farben (rgb) auf 100% um weiß zu erzeugen.
