The fade is there but the way u position and tilt the comb will determine how much hair u will cut. It’s not necessarily a 1 1/2 . As a barber myself I am accustomed to using all my guards and liners. I did this cut in jail with only a 1 guard and a 1/2 guard. The comb was my guide for how much hair I wanted to come off not just on the lower part if the fade but also where it transitions to the to longer hair on top. I never really liked usin color to enhance the hair line But u did yo thang on this cut 💯

While this technique can work, it also leaves little room for error and is a harder technique for beginner barbers to pick up on. Wet the hair on top, part it, comb down the bulk and run your 1.5 guard up to the part. Easy, and less chance for you to take too much off and ruin your fade lines.
