I think this is a misinterpretation (by the video makers of course) of what this hack is actually supposed to do. This hack is not supposed to prevent the bread from getting moldy (even though that is what it shows in the video), it is to keep it going stale in a short period of time, which is what homemade loaves and fresh bread you buy from a real bakery will do. It will get hard and stale within 1-2 days. However modern store bought breads usually have dough conditioners and preservatives that keep your bread soft and fresh for a week or so. (Oh no! Additives! Look, convenience does not come free. Take the additives and preservatives in your bread, or go buy bread every other day, your choice.) So this hack was supposed to keep some moisture near your fresh bread to keep it soft for a few days longer as it dries out in your old school bread box. However modern plastic bags are too good at keeping moisture in, so instead of a little bit of moisture, you have way too much, for more than a week, allowing for molds to really set up shop and flourish.

Regarding the last video: sugaring is a waxing technique that actually works. But only when done in the right quantities and CAREFULLY. You're never supposed to put hot caramel on your skin. The fact that a content farm is producing that sort of stuff in a 'quick how-to' video is in itself just shameful. Things like sugaring need extensive explanation.

I wish I could trust them to just remove "harmful" videos, but who gets to decide what's harmful and when do they go too far? Please don't misunderstand, I COMPLETELY agree with your sentiment, but monkeying with freedom of speech (even if that speech is stupid and dangerous) can get us in a real bind. Hopefully by supporting Anne and sharing these videos, we can spread more knowledge within the KZbin cooking and crafting communities.

This is insane and so many diys are DANGEROUS. Imagine a child attempting to put foil in a toaster... Imagine a child stealing vodka to make skittle vodka...
@KatieCottingham4 жыл бұрын
Both already happen. Unfortunately, both ideas have been around for a while; the foil in the toaster for probably decades because I remember seeing something with that when I was in my early teens more than fifteen years ago, and candy infused vodka has been a gourmet cocktail additive for probably close to twenty years, if not longer. The foil in the toaster is dumb and dangerous, but that's what the Darwin Awards are for. And the candy flavored vodka is intended for adults, was created for adults, and the reality that it's now being peddled to kids is something the older bartenders have actively spoke out against because some of these videos are stealing footage from other channels and cropping out the watermarks. It's wrong, but between taking the issue up with the advertisers, it's also a parent's responsibility to actively parent their children. Dangerous, dumb, and adult things have been on the internet for a long time, but here most of us are in our 30s now without having attempted these dumb things because we either knew they were dumb when we first saw them (like understanding metallic things shouldn't go into a toaster because we were taught how to use in single digits) or asked our parents about something we saw (like the candy vodka) and were either told no or given a kid safe alternative like candy flavored Sprite (which is usually disgusting). I'm not sure what's more upsetting at this point; that parents are so completely handing over the raising of their children to being sat down with a device to watch videos on KZbin and/or Facebook, or that people genuinely believe it's entirely the responsibility of creators to not showcase stupid and/or dangerous things. I absolutely believe everything should come with a standard disclaimer AT THE START of the video and roll long enough to read it (just like old TV shows had spoken disclaimers when a craft or cooking project required adult assistance) and that brands featured should actively file for damage to brand value in court when these scammers feature a product without any attempt to hide the branded product. Should the platform shut down these content farms? Per KZbin's own guidelines, absolutely yes. Facebook will never care until multiple lawsuits go very public because they won't even consider changing until they're forced to do so. But both will keep allowing these content farms to keep utilizing their platforms because kids watch for hours upon hours and advertisers keep buying ads for them. An active boycott of the advertisers may make a difference, but it would have to be a nationwide or international boycott process that actually affects a quarterly earnings statement. No one is organized enough to pull that off at this point, so it's just not likely to do anything. Other than parents blocking these channels to stop views worldwide, nothing will change, and it's pretty clear a large enough section of parents internationally just don't want to put in the effort to parent, so old phones with KZbin and Facebook are doing the work. Parents have to be parents and stop access to this content, but it's not happening.
@chelsey87374 жыл бұрын
@@KatieCottingham Exactly. The problem isn't that these things have been around for so long and that people try them, the problem is that there's so many kids who aren't parented. Their parents just give them a device and say go away so nothing they watch is ever regulated. I was watching another video and a 19 year old said that she's learning to adult from KZbin Because the Internet is a better parent. It's so true like my entire generation and all of the kids underneath me are learning to live through the internet because our parents don't care. It's not our fault that we are obsessed with our phones, that we play video games for 8-10 hours a day, that we can't live without screen time, it's our parents that are letting us do that and teaching us that. If the older Generations didn't hand a four-year-old a Kindle and say go away go watch a video this wouldn't be an issue.

I have used sugar wax before and thankfully you solidify it first then microwave it in a glass container so it isn't too hot, but theirs has way too much lemon juice!!! The most lemon juice I've seen in a recipe is one tablespoon in a 500ml batch so that the acid is weak enough that it doesn't burn your skin.
@tarasnow-burch72034 жыл бұрын
If you insist on waxing use your instant pot as a wax warmer. Set the tin of wax on the trivet and fill the pot with water just below the rolled rim of the wax and set it on low slow cook with no lid. Wait until the wax is melted then use it. It works with both hard and soft wax. Forget the lemon juice and hot sugar unless it is in a cup of tea.

Just in case my comment is lost somewhere, here’s what I wrote: As a practitioner of sugaring, I’d like to say there is a hair removal technique using sugar paste which literally made out of sugar, water and lemon. However, The sugar paste and technique shown in the video by blossom does not look right and it’s misleading. One of the benefits of sugaring compared to waxing is that it doesn’t burn our skin because we practitioner keep our sugar paste at a max temperature of 45 degree C (still rather close to body temperature). The sugar shown in blossom’s video looks way to runny which indicates that the sugar could be at a pretty high temperature, resulting in burns. I would never recommend anyone to try sugaring as shown in blossom’s video. You can either go find a sugaring practitioner or if really want to do it at home, buy sugar paste meant for hair removal online. Cheers!

But you're right, let's have lots of Darwin Awards distributed to the idiots and one day we might, just might, have a world populated only by intelligent people. I get that the state of critical thinking in our current society is pretty low, but self-mastubatory intellectual condescension is unproductive, obnoxious, and borderline ableist. The existence of So Yummy and the societal factors that allow it to be so succesful is aggravating, but shitting on random ppl in a KZbin thread does zilch to fix it.

You're trying to keep it fresh maybe, but maybe you're supposed to change the celery periodically.

Hi! Natural dyer here! The main thing (aside from some of those not being dyes at all) is that the cotton fiber has to be scoured and mordanted prior to dyeing. Equally important is a dye concept called "weight of goods" where the dyestuff (what you get the dyes from) should be equal to or greater than the weight of the fiber you are dyeing (not always the case, but a good general rule). Fugitive dyes: turmeric, cabbage, grape skins - awesome for easter eggs. Not so much for fabric. Good dyes (if done right): avocado (this involves fermentation and some other fancy chemistry), eucalyptus (great for ecoprinting with an iron mordant) I think everything else in the original video is a load of BS that will lead to sadness. That was a dye joke. Thank you!

Leaving bread on the counter or in a bread box = fast result to moldy bread. Put that bread in the fridge! Too much bread? Freeze and defrost. Stiff/stale bread? Add a little warm water mixed with a tiny bit of honey 😊
