I’m in my late 50’s. I have been wanting to Bible journal for years now. About three weeks ago I searched and found you, Faith. You are such an inspiration to me. I love the truth and no dancing around the bushes. I’ve been going back and forth from your older videos to present. I can’t Thank God enough for you. I shall begin soon. 💜

Why not concentrate on the 100 days? Spend 100 days with Gods Word... Memorize, sure, but if you flip it, and make the amount of days with God the focus, not the # of verses, maybe thats the most important takeaway? So what if you spend 11 days memorizing just one verse... You just spent 11 days in and with GOD'S WORD, BABY!!! Dont mind my advice tho, im the girl who is brand new...

I totally agree! Aim to memorize as many verses as you can over 100 days would be cool! Only move onto the next verse when you feel 100% confident you have the 1st one. Then at the end of the 100 days you see how you did!

My young nephew just started memorizing a verse a week at his school (Christian). So to help encourage him, I ask for the verse and I'm memorizing them too. This is my speed, one per week and my goal is to revew the previous ones so they're written on my heart. I certainly couldn't do one/day.

I appreciate your wrap up of your experience. What I switched to is memorizing one (short!) book of the New Testament a year. They run around 100 verses, which is what made me think of you. I spend January studying the book and reading it each day, then begin memorizing it in February. I continue to read and study as well as memorize through the year. I love what I am getting out of these books!

The greatest benefit I’ve had in memorization is a long passage, even a short chapter. So you’re getting lots of verses in but also studying in context, really digging into the passage, and seeing connections and the flow of thought that you don’t get with individual verses, or even just studying the same passage. Love your encouragement and reminder that our time with God and trust in His love is what matters!!

I suggest the book “100 Bible Verses Everyone Should Know by Heart” by Robert J. Morgan. It is the best book I have found on scripture memorization. It even gives tips/tricks to master it. Super SUPER neat insights throughout the book. Instead of focusing on quantity-focus on QUALITY. I hope this helps!

I am so thrilled for this video. When the first video about the 100-verse challenge was posted, I knew this was not a challenge I could complete. and that was fine with me. I am 70 and I know that I can memorize a verse per week, and it will stay with me. I will complete a verse map as well. I also select verses that I go to regularly because it gives me motivation. I memorized verses in the past due to a study I was doing. I think in all it was about 30 verses and today I think I remember 3 or 4. I have to make memorization a personal experience and not an exercise in academics. My verse for this week was Psalm 121: 1-2. I lift my eyes unto the hills, from whence comes my help. My help cometh from the Lord who made heaven and earth,

I like the idea of using the stickers/merch as committing to getting in His word every day for 100 days! Rather than 100 scriptures in a timeline. They are cute stickers and a good reminder/motivator for our own personal journals/trackers while building habits.

In elementary school, I went to my church school and had to memorize Bible verses every day and recite it every morning in front of the class. It was so much easier then than it is now at 49 with my brain fog. I do a lot more Scripture writing these days. And no matter how many years you've been reading and studying the Bible, His Word is truly alive and you will find something new every time you take the time to truly spend time with Him in His Word. And I love how personal the Lord gets with you as you read Scripture. Sometimes He truly calls me out (He does have a gentle correcting and I do find He has quite the sense of humor with it at times) and other times He just fills me with love, peace, comfort, and reminds me that when I draw near to Him, He will draw near to me. Thank you for doing what you do, Faith. And for being real and raw. Love you and Ps Joe. Know I'm praying for you both, that the Lord continue to bless y'all as you continue to serve Him and put Him first in all you do.

Ps119:11 - I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you. I have been memorizing scripture for 1 year and half because I found myself in sin habits and dealing with hurts. As I work through bible study, devotionals or books, I pick the verses that I am struggling with and that are helpful for life. Reframe the practice of memorizing from being a challenge/checklist to being a grace of God (if it's not making you more like Christ, confess and continue your walk). On a practical note, I recommend Remember Me app and 15min/day of time.

It's literally taking me yyyeeeaarrrsss to get some of the basic verses memorized. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Memorizing is so hard for me lately! This was an encouragement to go deeper and not focus on what I can't achieve or if I do a challenge, where I have 'failed'. This was a wonderful, truthful and transparent followup to your challenge. After watching your 100 day challenge video it inspired me to want to memorize some verses too (I've been wanting to do this for awhile) but I knew there was no way I could do 1 a day for a 100 days so I made it doable by just telling myself, I would give myself a couple of days to memorize a verse and if I needed to go longer I would. I also even chose verses that had intrinsic meaning for me (not necessarily the popular ones), in fact I absolutely love 1Chronicles 29: 10-12 (a praise to the Lord) which makes me stand in awe of Him everytime I read it/memorize it. You are an inspiration, don't beat yourself up (I don't think you are) you have inspired some of us to challenge ourselves a little more than we would normally do and yes, the challenge makes me feel closer to God...sending love and hugs!! PS:I'm 71 years old and you inspired an old lady to get in the bible more than I usually do and really spend time getting to know the Lord.

I use verses as passwords. That is a good memorization tool. Might create an ah- ha moment to encourage more study. How about 100 verses in a year? Or, just one verse a week, 7 days is good elbow room. Hey, I’m just proud I have completed reading the Bible for my first time EVER! 🎉🎉 Now I’m self studying Psalms until Advent then I’ll go back to Psalms unless…… so much to learn. I’m really enjoying my time with God. Bible verses are coming along with time.

When I was in my 20s I went to a church that was really into competitions for Bible memory. This always seemed strange and prideful to me and put me off trying to memorize because I didn't see the point. Your video was completely different than that. I could see the benefit and love you have for God throughout the whole thing. You inspired me to at least write down meaningful verses during my study. As I went throughout my week I naturally kept coming back to John 10:9 and now have it memorized just cause I needed it in my life and for no other reason ❤

Love the points you made in this video! I watched your recent video about memorizing 100 verses in 100 days and I could see the stress and pressure that it caused you toward the end of the challenge. It was a lot to undertake and I applaud you for your dedication! For me, it has always been way harder to memorize verses one by one rather than a chunk of scripture. Several years ago in a small group, we all memorized a large chunk…we chose Colossians 3:1-17 and it was sooo helpful to memorize all the verses together in context. We memorized one verse a week for 17 weeks and, by the end, we had the whole thing memorized. I can still recall it and the Holy Spirit brings verses to mind in many situations. ☺️ It provided an opportunity to go slowly through it and I enjoyed not needing to memorize 17 separate verse references (ex. Memorizing the verse PLUS memorizing the book and chapter and verse like numbers Romans 3:23, Psalm 34:2, 1 Corinthians 13:1, etc). It takes so much brain space to remember all the verse references and memorizing a large chunk of scripture was a fruitful way to approach memorizing lots of verses in community. Since I loved memorizing that way, I definitely recommend that approach that as you seek to continue memorizing the word. ☺️💛 Love your videos by the way! I always look forward to watching them!

I think this can still be a thing we can commit to. Now, 100 verses in 100 days may not have been what you expected it to be. You still committed 100 days to being in your bible and putting time into memorization, and spending time with God. Just because it did not go as planed does not make it a failure, but perhaps with some revamping it can semply be a 100 days to verse memorization which can and will look diffrent for each person.

Those are some valuable lessons you've learned through this experience. As a student at Bible College, I memorized the entire book of James in the KJV. Memorizing a passage makes it harder to take it out of context, particularly as I... 1) took 5 months to do it, 2) did word studies, 3) used the concordance, 4) looked up all the cross references, 5) stayed accountable to my mentor, who happened to the Dean of Women. At the end, I did indeed quote the entire book to her. That was 45 years ago, and to this day if you were to quote a verse, I would know if it came from the book of James, and probably which chapter it came from.

My ex-husband actually used to make fun of me but I didn’t stop believing. I’ve been reading a chapter a night of my bible for the last three years and I don’t remember any of it by heart. I remember bits & pieces but not a whole verse. You’ve inspired me to make little cards of the main things that Jesus has said. If I start small and continue over time until I can remember those important words then who knows. It’s something at least to help me on my own personal journey. Thank you so much for the inspiration. God bless you 🥰✝️

You are right to encourage yourself and your family and everyone else to memorize scripture, (Proverbs 7:2) and your transparency was, and is very, very encouraging. I also like the way you chat with your husband about the entire issue because this models what a good marriage does and that is to “be one.” You are once again doing what you have always been doing and that is to encourage Bible literacy and to encourage your subscribers to develop an authentic relationship with the Trinity. Last week when you gave us the memory verse worksheet, I spent the entire evening cutting them out and gluing them to pretty scrapbook paper to make 4x6 cards. I even used the encouragements you put on the cover sheet as embellishments. It was so much fun and when I finished making the 15 cards, I felt accomplished and excited to begin. I even hole punched the corner and put them on a binder ring so I could easily carry them around the house. Well, aside from showing my sister my handiwork, they have sat on the art table since I made them. I didn't know why. After watching this video, I think it did turn into a works vs Spirit issue. I confess that I would totally nerd out and be prideful over a hoodie that announces that I was successful in accomplishing this challenge. A sticker and hoodie would be a tangible reward to me that I can do hard things. I still want to memorize scriptures, but I need a right spirit to do it.

Thank you for this thoughtful look at a challenge like this. I agree with you that verse memorization must be all about a teachable and humble heart posture of meekness, not about showing off or checking a box. That being said, I love memorizing scripture ❤❤❤ I have seen the Lord use it to work changes in me and my relationship with Him and interactions with others. I like how you identified that scripture memorization involves studying and meditation on scripture. I have made a personal challenge this year to memorize some passages/verses that will remind me of; God's nature and character, living out the love of God, Biblical wisdom and verses about salvation. It's comforting to remember and review them because they hold a special meaning in my walk with the Lord and not because I had to hit a specific goal. Thank you for the encouragement to just keep seeking God first, not checking boxes ❤🙂🙏

I'm remembering the parable of the seed. The seed is the Word. A seed takes time to germinate and can't be rushed. It'll sprout when it's ready. Our job is to plant it (study), God will water it while we study (meditation) and will give the increase in time. We can be focused, but no need to beat ourselves up. This is how I see it, anyway. God bless your work, Faith. Thank you.

Easier and more natural to memorize entire passages or books than “popcorn verses. Also it keeps us from interpreting them out of context. It’s amazing even the mundane verses begin to “pop” and have so much meaning - ones you’d normally skip over because they don’t seem like “memory verses”. I study study study the passages/book and then listen on audio over and over during my life (driving, etc). Then it just becomes ingrained. I love memorizing and it just helps sooo much to know the Bible better. Then when I hear a message or sermon on that book or passage it just seems like I learn even more deeply. Don’t stop memorizing, maybe just modify your methods! 🥰

I believe understanding trumps memorization by far! I love seeking information and reading the bible (it's my first time, I'm currently at revelation! I went to a reformed school where memorising Scripture was taken seriously and so I memorised chapters in the course of my young life. Now I am so thankful we were made to memorise as a matter of course: those verses I still remember without revising. Any of the verses I learned when I became a believer as an adult need revision from time to time. Just an encouragement to really pursue it with your youth group.

I can't recite books chapters & verses but the most important thing I was told is just remember the 23rd psalms if you can't remember anything else.~ Amen ❤😊 I would find the highlight scripture n the book, chapter or verse and just go w/it.Some of the verses r songs and so I would highlight the verse n the song. When I c the verse ...I sing it.❤😊

Great thoughts. Memorizing God's word blesses me in so many ways, and I also use creativity to help me, like you did. I also did a 100 day challenge making bible verses with papercutting and more than just memorizing, it made me love the word more, think about his thoughts every day, throughout the day, and looking for ways to visualize what God is saying made me grow deeper in his word as I had to study context and meanings of words to turn it into pictures.. As a visual learner it helps me to use art and color to memorize but I also use mnemonic techniques which helps with memorizing chapters and verse numbers. It's so encouraging to see so many other people loving God's word and aspiring to memorize. I agree it can become a legalistic exercise leading to pride, self righteousness etc. But it shouldn't be that way as the Bible has transforming power and really makes a person more humble and christlike, the more the word is internalized.

Loved your video. the one sentence I have held onto is, the Word you memorize, you will utilize. But that may not be 30 verses it may be 5. I love memorizing Psalms, only a couple. I memorized Psalm 5 (David's morning prayer) and his evening one Psalm 4. these two Psalms remind me who I am every morning and keep me safe at night. In peace I lie down and fall asleep at once, since You alone Yahweh make me rest secure. Psalm 4

I memorise scripture by passwords, have to constantly change at least two at work so I use scripture. Old one Mathew 7#7 ask and it shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you. Just recite each time

Your 100 day challenge really was inspiring! After watching your last video, I realized that 100 days wasn’t for me, but I do want to try 30 days. I think a shorter challenge would work. I’d wear a sweatshirt with that on it! Lol

Those 100 verses were probably ones that you thought were particularly helpful or encouraging or insightful. In addition to having the verses in your heart, you also now have decorative cards as a reminder of each one. Your ideas in this video sounded like a great way to expand on that challenge, if desired or led. I look forward to hearing how those Bible verse cards encourage your future Bible study time.

Thanks for explaining your experience. I pick verses by studying God's word. When I find a verse God is using to speak to me, I underline it in my Bible and write an M next to it. But I don't stress myself to memorize it right now. I have started to go back now to verse map verses I have already memorized and found that helpful as well. My biggest issue is the references! How do you remember the references? Especially with books of the Bible that are similar. I decided to pick one version for memorizing, so if I cannot remember a reference, I know which version to use when I do a Bible gateway search for it. 😁

I like the challenge. Just make it your own. Like a 100 verses in 100 days craft style. You can make bookmarks, write it on your kids lunches, make a tye dye shirt, a key chain....ECT. It can be the same verse or different ones. Just as long as you have God's word with you for 100 days. 😊💙

Susan Heck has a video on memorizing that really blessed me. I appreciate all her "whys" to do it and how she does it, but mostly I appreciated that she memorizes chapters at a time. That way you are getting the context, rather than random verses, does that make sense? I copied the page in the bible that had the chapter I was working on, and just had it with me all day. I also went over what I had memorized in the shower, while I'm doing chores and especially in bed at night to keep my thoughts heavenly and that was such a blessing to me, so, I wanted to share it with you:) I did memorized the book of James. However, sense I don't go over it much any more I do have holes now... even so, I have so much of it in my heart and I have the context all together which is great. Anywho, was thinking of you and thought this might be interesting to you:) God bless

I didn't join in, never even intended to, as I know I can't do a verse a day (not so that I remember 6 months later anyway!) For memorising I've taken the 'method' from the channel 'charlotte mason' as she gives a good way to review at the same time. Maybe you covered it before but I'm only following just about a few months or so. Though I don't use the fancy box that she introduces - and I loved the cute cards you made. For some reason it takes me hours to do those so I just use index cards and coloured pens. As you say - it's about having the word in your heart at the end of theday. And if you do one a month - at the end of the year you know 12 more!

I am really curious to look into what the Pharisees and Jewish history tells about how they would memorize the scriptures because not everybody had access to it at the time. Seeing what we could glean. Like how Jesus may have studied as a boy in the first century. I find the most fun and packed lessons when I read from God scriptures, and then move into what was life like for the people that I’m learning about. Then how it applies to my own life now makes it so much more fruitful.

Love this message! Side note about your Bible studying, when your arrows get really confusing and mixed up, have you ever thought of numbering the verse your noting on?? I want to know what your thoughts are on that method?

Maybe the best way would be memorize one verse a day in 100 days but continue txt so the context will help it to stick in your memory better, exemple ps 1.1 first day, second day psalm 1.2, third day psalm 1.3, obviously you will reread the previous verse, I am sure wont be so hard and as the time pass that will build up.

How about 100 days of memorizing scripture? Not the number of scriptures, just 100 days of memorizing. I can't memorize a verse in a day, but I do the Charlotte Mason method with my kids every day. There is no pressure, just memorize as you go, we review them at each meal, discuss what that verse means, how can we apply the verse. It's a fun way to memorize, have mini family worship time, and keep our hearts focused on God not on the day to day drama of life.

Yeah doing it more for the numbers and challenge defeats the whole purpose of writing God’s infallible Word on our hearts. ❤ Faith can you look into Phil Wickham’s book “On Our Knees”? It’s a devotional on prayer, and I’m over halfway through and I really like. It is focused on Scripture too which is obviously awesome! I’d love to see your thoughts on it.
