Christmas is just around the corner and every year I like to create a cake for my the school to raffle off at the christmas fair. Seeing as it was for the school I wanted it to be fun and theres nothing screams christmas like Elf on the Shelf especially a naughty elf on the shelf who squirts toothpaste all over my nice elf on the shelf cake! If you have any little elf on the shelf fans at home why not create your very own elf on the shelf cake using my elf on the shelf cake topper tutorial!
I was so happy with how this elf on the shelf cake topper turned out so I made this how to make an elf on the shelf cake figurine you tube video tutorial in case any of you would like to create one for yourself or your little one!
HOW TO MAKE AN ELF ON THE SHELF CAKE FIGURINE
Materials used
Red gumpaste fondant
White gumpaste fondant
Black fondant
White fondant
Blue gumpaste fondant
Brown fondant
white lustre dust
peach lustre dust
red sparkle lustre dust
terracotta lustre dust
skin tone lustre dust
Edible black paint
edible white paint
edible glue
BBQ skewer
Edible glue
Polystyrene ball
Medium sized star cutter
cake decorating tools
I used red edible modelling paste to create this Elf on the shelf cake topper figurine as it is stronger and dries faster than fondant. You can use gum tragacanth in your fondant icing for a stronger consistency also. For edible paint I simply use lustre dust with a tiny bit of alcohol and for edible glue I mix gum tragacanth powder with water.
