@@Brian-mf3ry we had optional tech center classes available to us in the 1980's. It was way more interesting than some of the other normal electives. It was a 2 year program and since both of the electronics course teachers we also instructors at the the Grand Rapids community college and taught the same curriculum for the electronics technology associates degree they set it up to allow us to be able to test out of the two-year program in college if we completed the tech center 2 year course. Sadly the program and facility are now defunct

Hi Dejan, your videos are very clear, educative and highly illustrative. I was going to point out the mistake your last formula (because R1 and R2 are clearly in parallel since they both connect to 5V). But then I noticed nagarjun rao correcting it

I usually see schmitt triggers in the positive feedback inverting configuration. The circuit here is using positive non-inverting configuration. I'm not sure if it will work. Also, I think that using virtual short concept in your equation (Va=0) is not valid because this only exist in negative feedback configurtion.
@adilmohammed6897
@adilmohammed6897 2 ай бұрын
you are correct. thanks for pointing it out as i went in a rabbithole to understand it. the formula gain = -rf/r is probably applicable only in negative feedback cases where the output is stable. here its positive feedback and output is always +12 or -12v due to regeneration so i am assuming theres no such thing as a formula for gain. in negative feedback theres degeneration so theres virtual shorting there

If I'm not mistaken, that last formula you displayed (where Vout = 5V) is wrong. The formula to calculate Va should be Va = [R3 / (R3 + R1 || R2)]*Vref. Since all the resistors are the same value the answer you got is correct, but your approach was not.

|| means "in parallel with". For example, R1 || R2 is asking for the resistance of two resistors, R1 and R2 connected in parallel. R1 || R2 = (R1 * R2) / (R1 + R2)

From what I learned in college, resistors that are in parallel share both nodes. Why, in the first of the last two examples, are R2 and R3 in parallel?

If it's from the non-inverting input why the minus sign when dividing R1 and R2 in the Vin equation? I find it a bit confusing because the minus sign is also been used to calculate the gain of an inverting input.

Your Va formula for non-symmetrical inverted schmmit trigger is incorrect. It should be = [(R3)/((R1||R2) + R3)]*Vref. You just got the right answer because all 3 resistors have the same value.

why dont you apply the formula Vin=(R1/R2)Vout? How do you know that the opam is satturated already? I mean, the relation beteween Vo and Vin according to Vin=(R1/R2)Vout is linear. You make it looks like pulse function and its not. Please explain it to me.

Hello sir and thank you for your very informative videos. I have a question for you: I would like to make a circuit that can give me a rectangular signal between 0V and 5 V. A kind of switch, but with a smaller rise time in the order of 50ns to 100ns. I tried with the Mosfets, but the output siganl to a lot of swings and noises. What you can advise me or have already made a circuit like that. I like to test the filters placed at the retraction of a microcontroller by placing this signal recregular and read the response of the filter. Thank you

I'm looking for how to design a single pole double throw switch that switches one way above a higher voltage and the other way below a lower voltage. I want it to switch between a capacitor and a shorting wire to control a generator powered by a falling weight. It would be fun to make a weight driven radio or phone charger but a low power load would make the generator spin faster and a high load make it slow if I connected it directly. The plan is to run the load off of some power capacitor, and have the generator charge the capacitor in parallel, but then disconnect and be shorted out when the capacitor reaches a higher voltage, let's say 5.5 volts in the case of phone charging. Then when the phone has siphoned enough from the capacitor that its voltage has dropped to 4.5 or maybe 4.8 volts, disconnect the shorting wire and reconnect the capacitor. My thinking is the generator will slow down on the shorting wire, and then speed up when connected across the capacitor until it is charged to the desired level and switched out of circuit again. I am unsure of how the old Freeplay spring driven radios worked (before they switched to battery storage) but when the radio was at moderate levels, the generator would rev up a bit and then slow down again in pulses, which is the behaviour predicted from the circuit above e.g. charging a capacitor and then shorting the generator (with the capacitor disconnected from it) to slow the release of wind when the radio had enough power. Turning up the volume louder caused the radio to unwind in longer pulses until it was steady and fast, leading me to believe the capacitor was never switched out due to the power demand of the loud radio. If the radio was turned off completely, then it unwound slowly, leading me to believe the capacitor was fully charged and the generator was on the shorting wire. Also holding the winder still caused the radio to fade out like it was on a capacitor of some sort. I couldn't find the exact circuit that was responsible though.
