I've just gotten around to watching this and was initially worried to see 26+ mins. The detail you've put in, and time take to identify the shortcomings, is astounding. This is something I was looking to implement but had no idea how to approach, and then your video dropped. I will consider making this 'feature' available to clients but I am going to build it into production reports for the project leads to immediately analyse the data and provide clarity to stakeholder/client queries. This is going to save so much time, especially with not having to export to Excel first.🤩 Thank you so much Bas.

Very cool solution. I tried this myself but quickly realized that your values must be measures. A standard matrix will automatically allow you to apply "sum of ..." but in order for this to work you need to create the equivalent measure to do that

Thank you! Great explanation. One of the challenge I had is with sorting, we couldn't sort by the selected columns. When we select one value and sort by Jan 2019 or sort by Jan 2020, is that possible? Thanks for your help and the great learning videos to the PowerBI community!

This functionality is really amazing! I am applying it to some of my dashboards and I want to also use the labels too. When it comes to the labels and bringing out what is selected, I want the order of the values shown to be based on the order in which it is selected so that it is clear (especially for the rows section) how the data is broken out in the pivotable. How would I update the measure to order the way the subtitle shows based on the selection order?
@Fernando_Calero2 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing @Bas. Q: How could you force the values to don't show blanks and save space in the matrix, based on the fact that the user might use any of the possible measures available? I can't just go to the filter pane and choose a measure to filter non blanks, because there are any measures selected yet.

Hi Bas, great video! I am trying to implement this for a client, but I would like to have the filter section dynamically show different filters based on the selected fields in the rows and column section. Do you know a solution for this? I saw your other video on dynamic slicers with field parameters, but that only works with one selected value in a field parameter, not if you select multiple values.

Awesome video! I was just working on a pivot table and this video helped me work out an issue I was encountering. I love your channel, but could you do a back to basics video? Canvas size and selecting a size seems really important with significant consequences depending on how the report is used. I made the mistake of increasing canvas size so I could get a font size that looked smaller than what was possible with the default limit of 8 (add a visual or two to the page) not realizing I would lose the ability to copy visuals. Another basic is losing subscription to reports when the page is hidden. Maybe you are aware of workarounds for some of the basics. Setup decisions seem to have future impacts that aren't always obvious and aren't well advertised.

Hello Bas. I have tried using a field parameter as a breakdown dimension in a decomposition tree. Sadly, it didn't work properly. PBI does recognize parameter selection in a tree, but the tree is buggy and system crashes if you try expanding the leaves in an order different from the order I select parameter fields. Somehow order of selection begins to matter... I have discovered this issue back in 2022 when the field parameters have been introduced. As of my knowledge, nobody in the World could make it work so far and that is sad, since decomposition tree imao beats pivot table as a tool for analysis. Have you ever tried solving this issue Bas?
