I got this Hoya in the mail yesterday & wanted to water it as the leaves were so stiff. However, my hubby pointed out that the substrate was still moist. Therefore, I watched many videos to find out about how the leaves should feel; none until yours explained the “cardboard” texture. Thank you! I’m a sub. now.

Great video I love mine. It took two years for it to start growing. Now it’s on a trellis and has about 20 leaves.

I picked up a 3'' hoya callistophylla and upon unpacking both leaves just fell right off. I was curious if you had any tips to keep the stem and root alive. Not sure what else to do. Planning to place a baggy over the plant to raise the humidity.

Nice video (: and also nice change of intro and outtroooo 👌🏻 I don’t have a hoya callistophyla because it resembles a leaf on my guava tree lol But it does look gorgeous . The closed to it is a finlaysonii lol I agree with everything you said in this video. Also cocohusks can retain a little bit of fertilizer for your Hoya compared to say leca.. which I think is awesome since Hoyas don’t really like or need fertilizer and when we do fertilize with coconut husks is perfect since it will retain a bit of the fertilizer but not for too long as to have the Hoya get overkill by it

Thanks Gussy!! I really love your point about fertilizer. It’s so true!

I am getting on tomorrow and about the humidity do I have my humidifier beside it running all.day for it? The one I am getting has a peduncle already and I have some other hoyas that are not totally humidity needy per say. I assume I would benefit from knowing how humidity my house is too.

Hoyas love humid conditions and are more likely to flower if kept in a humid area. 60% or higher is ideal for that. But, that’s not to say they won’t grow or flower without it too. Just takes longer. When I used a humidifier I did have it running all day. But it’s totally up to you. I know several people who don’t like the homes so humid and all their Hoyas are doing just fine. I do recommend a humidity meter. I love knowing exactly what the conditions are in my home and they’re fairly cheap on Amazon. Good luck with your new baby! Keep me updated on its progress and ask any questions you have 😁

Yeah i have a princess that is only 2 yrs old and had flowered 4 times ans I don't do anything special to it she like the spot I have I think she is slower but I don't mind. I will see how it goes I am nervous that I won't have the humidity but I will see! Thanks again!

@@carmenwishlow1490 don’t be nervous!! These plants can definitely thrive without humidity! They live just fine in regular room humidity. I have numerous Hoyas in my living room and it’s constantly between 20-30% humidity and they all grow! You’re going to love your new baby!
