Hi Ric, I so enjoy seeing the unusual hoyas you have, I really like the fringed flowers, very cool. And the neighborhood walks are quite interesting, such a nice change from grass and a few shrubs by the house. Thank you for taking the time to walk even when it’s hot. Tomorrow here in central NJ we’re going to have highs of 98 ugh!! 😎🌴🌻🌿

What a wonderful neighborhood! Surely it's a great selling point for the house next door that Ric & Swiffer live right there! ☺

Hey Ric! I believe the tree that you called a dragon tree is actually a screw pine. Of the genus Pandanus. Thanks as always for the relaxing videos!

I had no idea milk weeds could flower or were even related to Hoya . They grow as weeds here, out of gutters. Lovely and beautiful neighborhood.
@nilobesop67272 жыл бұрын
Hi! Hoyas actually belong to the “milkweed family.” They are apart of a subfamily called Asclepiadoideae which contains many different genera such as stapelia, marsdenia, calotropis, asclepias, and Hoyas. The reason being is that their flower morphology contain the same 5 point Corolla and corona and all contain the same method of pollination. Their pollination is done by means of a packet of pollen called a pollinia.

@@nilobesop6727 Do you know the name of that milkweed tree? I’ve never seen one before, the flowers were really pretty! I have milkweed planted in the back for the monarchs, the pink flowers smell like honey....🌱
@nilobesop67272 жыл бұрын
@@grannyplants1764 Yeah! It’s called Calotropis Gigantea. Some people call it Giant Milkweed. It comes in this light pinkish purple color like in Ric’s video but I actually have an all white variety! There’s another species in this genus called Calotropis Procera. They are super easy to grow from seed and vegetative wise they look very similar. The flower just has a different structure. Hope that helps!!

@@nilobesop6727 thank you so much, I noted the info in my notebook for next year. The garden here is a certified butterfly habitat from the National Butterfly Assoc. the last 4 years! 🦋

Would love info on the house next door! I lived in old Northeast & Kenwood for years after moving to Florida & miss it. I'm 15-20min away now, and it's fine, but lacks the charm of Kenwood & old ne - feels like it could be anywhere USA 😒 I miss the character & charm, and would love to get back to what made me fall in love with the area in the first place 🌞
