Would hoyas be fine on a moss pole? Same kind of trellis but filled with sphagnum. Or, thinking out loud, barks ?

I have a weird question and I can't seem to find an answer for it ANYWHERE hahaha hmmm so a lot of my Hoyas grow tendrils, as Hoyas do. Thing is, often times the tip of the tendril will dry, and thus stop growing. I don't think it's a watering issue, since the leaves seem fine when that happens, and there's general growth happening. Also, a lot of the itty bitty tiny leaves that grow on these tendrils eventually fall. So I'm a bit puzzled (and I don't beat up my Hoyas or swing them around, if you wondered ;) ) You might have answered that in one of your videos, I haven't skimmed all of them yet as I'm a new fan of yours! :)

I have a Hoya carnosa - cutting from my mom's plant. She has a really old one and I noticed that both have leaves that come out with defects. By that I mean that is has in indentation from very early on and in grows in an odd shape. Not every leaf is like that and it seems to be doing fine in general, but is it something that just happens or can I do something about it? Thank you. Hugs for Romania :)

Omg! I ended up on your video after searching KZbin for information on Flat Mites on Hoyas but your discussion on cover pots for grow pots is so relevant!!!! 😫😭 It drives me crazy trying to find grow pots that fit my very standard size grow pots!!! Why do they make them in such different sizes!!! Someone needs to make a shop like you said that sells both that fit each other perfectly! I would give them all my money! Lol! I’m glad I’m not the only one with this problem though. The pot struggle is real! 😂

Hi Miro, I'm located in Germany and I have the hardest time finding nice matching caché pots. I try not to have plastic so when I find a pot I like I have the next problem that ceramic pots are not water tight at the bottom and I need a maching saucer or plate to catch the humidity that travels through the pot. To save my wooden shelves I finally came up with the idea to use mirror tiles under my ceramic cachés, they don't look stupid and even enhance the light. (I don't know if that really has an effect, but it looks good, when the light hits the mirror ;D) Love your rambling. I always enjoy your videos and learn new things all the time. Stay safe and healthy everyone!

@BasiePlants3 жыл бұрын
Yes, rabbit fence is also coated with plastic. I didn't try to seal the ends though :) I think hot glue sometimes can fall off. I also thought of silicone, but I am not sure what long term effects would be on the environment in the pot. It would be ideal if there were some kind of... rubbery "slippers" for the ends of our trellises 😂

Talking about spider mites. I thought I have spider mites in all my (numerous) plants. But by the end, after months/years, I think it's not spider mites but I still don't know what it is, since I don't find anything written about it: I have no mites on or under the leaves but in all pots on the suil's surface (and in all my hoyas!) there are one, two or three little brownish spiders (so way bigger that what I know now should a spider mite look like) big enough that I can see them running away each time I'm watering or misting. I can even catch them with my fingers. I couldn't find any information about such little soil spines. If I don't mist the top of the substrate quickly enough they let a web on parts of the soil's surface (that seems to be clearly different to spider mites's web). Do you or anyone know about this??
