Definitely hang onto your Elliptica! I purchased a Hoya last year from someone local to me. 3 days after bringing it home I lost all the leaves. I kept the woody stem and watered as I would if it had leaves and kept it in a really bright area and now it has about 12-14 leaves and I’ve taken 3 cuttings from it for trades. I am so happy I never threw it away. Love your Hoya collection! ❤

I've also done wood cabinets like that. But all you have to do is the polyurethane coat on the inside probably like two coats. There's all kinds of info about taking vintage cabinets like this in treating them so that they last forever. And can handle the humidity.

I saw a very planter that someone covered with green moss. It was beautiful. There were other plants on it but I can’t remember what. They kept it full of water. That way it was also moist all the time.

Some lovely plants. I do love hoya way more than I should. I do worry about flat mites. Plant worries I love the look of your cabinet its so cute I would defo prefer that over an IKEA one. If rot or mold ever becomes an issue yatch vanish is amazing takes ages fo dry but worth it. I use it for anything I can I love playing with it. Hehe Great video have fun

I’ve heard that you can use aza max for flat mites. I don’t know how you would use it or whether you can get it in Canada or not. Just a thought if you get them again. You could look it up.

There is a lot more gentle treatments for flat mights. I personally make my own spray and just do it more often when there's a problem. Since I did that, I haven't had any problems with flat mites. If I buy from reputable sellers on etsy that specialize in hoya, Instead of ever buying from greenhouses that sell Hoya. I have not had any problems with new ones coming with flat mites. The etsy sellers know that if they want good reviews, then they're selling rare plants that they need to come without flat mites. I also don't buy on marketplace. Since I've made those changes, I don't get flat mites.. A lot of the big growers salhoya, because they're trendy and don't know how to care for them while they're growing. I made the mistake of ordering from canopy. Plants and 2 of my hoyas came completely infested with flat nights. They gave me a refund and I just threw them out so I wouldn't be bringing it into my collection I mean, the back had complete scabbing on the leaves. I can't believe they sent them. But that's what I mean about the big growers, not knowing about the flat mites. It's okay to buy like common plants or philodendron From places like that, but when it comes to Hoya. I try to go with the etsy sellers.. Also, I've had a lot of success with Steve leaves. None of their hoyas come sick with flatnites . As far as the homemade spray goes, it's like 75% water, 5 pumps of natural soap a couple cap. Fuls of alcohol a couple capfuls of peroxide. In about 20 drops of essential oils that kill bugs. And mites, you can look up which ones you wanna use. I do peppermints close. There's actually many different oils I use. I shake it up. I do it in the evening. So no light hits it. I do everything the top of the soil, the fronts and backs of the leaves the stems and I let it dry on then I skip a day and do it again. I do it quite often until the flat rights are taken care of. Also if you have a somewhat new phone, you can take a picture of the front and backs and zoom in really close and you might be able to tell if there's any bugs. Some of these new phones can really zoom. Once I do it every other day to every 3 days for a few weeks. Then you should only have to do it once a month until you're sure it's completely taken care of and then maybe every other month. Doing this mix? I hardly ever get any type of bugs. Or infestations of any kind in years. I've been growing for 8 years
