I love plant care, unboxing, plants set up, lighting for plants...Anything that related to hoyas really.

Hi Michelle. My most wanted hoya, the undulata! So even if the leaves look healthy and it has root rot, no sap, then the plant can't survive? If u put root hormone on your undulata it should help and clip it down. I hope it roots either way. That H. Irish is besutuful. I had one but while away visiting my mom, my husband over watered it. In regards to the plant youtubers, 80% of my subscriptions were hoya youtubers. Now, only 5% of my hoya plant KZbin's are active! I believe during the pandemic people tried to find or go in on a trend to make side money or break the boredom because many were out of work. Once those unemployment extensions dried up and no more stimulus checks it was hard for some to keep up. Plus there are those who went the way of selling and ramped up the price of hoyas such as on Etsy and eBay.Then of course there are those with mental health issues, but out and personal issues. I was very disappointed but realize its a chore. One lady I was following is in Ukraine, so there's the war, one who got married and taking a 3 month hiatis, another in Sri Lanka who has well estsblshed hoyas is going through personal issues and another who suddenly passed away. So yes the numbers have dwindled. Michelle, do what you've been doing. I've turned several people on to hoyas so we still need the videos. That's how we learn. There are still a lot of hoya youtubers, I'm just picky with those I watch. Look forward to your next video. Dee, NY

Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know your thoughts and experiences with KZbinrs! You have some very good advice. There are some really great plant (and Hoya) KZbinrs, and I always have new ones pop up in my feed frequently. But a lot have disappeared temporarily or permanently. I’ll continue to do KZbin videos for the long term, because I just got started :)

@@herrenfam yes, we need the plant youtubers. I understand wolgangsmana, Amy, because of her miscarriages and other's who shared their reasons for shutting down or who took a hiatus. We learn from each other!

Oh no! I feel for you. Let us know what happens with the Undulata. Such a beautiful plant though. Hard to believe you had root rot on that plant. You inspired me to do some plant chores today....🙂 Thank you!

The undulata is still in water. I ended up cutting off some bottom leaves and trimming up higher on the stem. The water wasn’t uptaking to the leaves with a dried out dead stem 😱 it’s still too soon to tell, but I think it has a better chance now. 🤞🤞

Hope all of them do lovely after this video. As someone who got into hoyas a year ago and have accumulated so many- some people want to know how to bloom different hoyas. I am definitely more about how to care for hoyas as hoya care can differ so much from each other- the light, humidity, watering needs. And even if most of mine are all in pon the care is so different to each other. At the same time it would be very helpful if we could see close ups of the plants and the roots, lets us admire the beautiful foliage of your hoyas and lets us see the concern you are tackling in the video. Oh also I was curious about the new growlight you got for your birthday on the milsbo. How have you been liking it and which one is it please? I have been lost for my cabinet since I live in 🇬🇧 and can’t find barrina T8s or Monios🥲

Thank you for your response! I really appreciate all the ideas and suggestions - I’ll definitely incorporate them in my future videos. On the close ups of the Hoyas, I agree. It requires taking separate close up videos of the plants. And I need to take (and use) that footage. It’s a lot of new things to learn 😂

I’ve been using Pon and found that quite a few of my Hoyas got root rot. Some don’t like Pon at all like a meredithii I had I completely lost this way. So I started using fern fiber with a leca r😊reserve and have seen much more success. I also don’t know how long to let my pon run dry. It would be helpful if you could talk about letting pon run dry and for how long if so. I would love to see videos on only Hoyas. Thank you for continuing to do videos

Thanks for your video. I’m just learning how to root hoyas in pon. I would like to know how to water propagations in pon and also how to fertilize in pon. I’ve watched a few of your videos. Your plants are amazing. 🙂🪴

Hi - thank you for your comment! With water propagations in pon, I keep the height of the water rather high to plant my items in (some people like to do it dry, some like it wet - I like it damp to dry). I hope this helps!

Do Hoyas root rot more in pon?
@herrenfam7 ай бұрын
You would think so to see my last two videos, but no, not really more than any other method. What happened in my case was I have times where I’m unable to take care of my plants, and the plants in pon will totally dry out. Then I get dry root rot. I also had an issue fairly recently where two times watering back to back I filled the reservoirs too full. Roots that were not supposed to be submerged in water, were submerged for days. That gave me wet root rot. Now I’m basically trying to clean up my mess and recover my plants. Thankfully I’m only estimating about 20% of my 100 or so Hoyas are affected, but it’s frustrating that my care led to any of this!
