Mr. Jayasinghe, the national anthem of Sri Lanka (Sri Lanka Matha) was written by Ananda Samarakoon as you ofcourse know. He was a student of Tagore, who is the foremost writer of songs, poetry and other literary works during the Bengal Renaissance era. Samarakoon was under Tagore''s tutelage in Santiniketan before he wrote Sri Lanka Matha. Ancient records also suggest that there was a migration of atleast part of what would become the Sinhala people from eastern India to Sinhaladvipa. So, I guess our bonds are deep.

I take back some of the words by which I expressed my disappointment to some extent in my earlier writing on this wonderful song. Manna Dey will be proud of Modhumonti and her excellent musical team. Frankly, more I have listened to her mesmerising voice, more adoration of her rendering of this famous and extremely popular song. We wish Modhumonti's prettiness could have been used in the video much more. After all, it is a very important part of show business.
