Why do I see people complaining about this song being used by TWD and getting popularity through it? As fans of whatever band whose songs are being played in movies, series or whatever, you should be happy that the incredible music you've found somehow, is now reaching new ears and making new fans. You should be proud that the band you like is getting known. Because it can be in a show but that doesn't mean people will like it. If they are here it's because they heard it and they LIKED it. Discovering a band through a show doesn't make your taste in music weak. Complaining about people who does that DOES make you stupid. No offense pretended, just making a point. And by the way, this song was also played in The Originals (2x05).

I honestly just came here for Hozier, but I love this song so much. I struggle with several things, anxiety, depression, paranoia, intrusive thoughts, violent and destructive thoughts, I've dealt with these since I was five years old. I always repressed these thoughts and pretended they didn't exist, until they got to a point where I couldn't shut them up anymore and started to act on some, but nothing too violent thankfully. It's taken a lot of time, patience, and struggling, but I've finally gotten to a point where they don't hurt me near as much as they used to. This song perfectly describes the balance I needed to find with my thoughts, impulses, and emotions, in general they aren't healthy and I shouldn't always act or dwell on them, but they're a part of me that I can't just pretend doesn't exist. I can't lock them away completely, just keep them on a leash. A bit of chaos and caution is fine, healthy even and keeps life from being boring, just like how fire when properly handled can cook your food and warm you up, but if you're careless and let it get out of control it will burn everything to ashes. That's what this song means to me, it compares emotions to fire, the destructive thoughts, desires, and impulses of a person are like fire is to an arsonist. It's fine to have a fascination with it and you shouldn't lock away that part of you, but you can't let it get too out of control or it will bring nothing but pain and ruin. That's something I need a reminder of sometimes.

Yeah now I've been in grippy sock jail twice for wanting to set fire to this abandoned wood house near mine, just so I can watch the flames spread to the rest of town and dance in the still smoldering ashes. Also I discovered I have bipolar depression, cptsd, and my pyromania stems from a lack of control and power over my own life. Now that I've realized it my temptation to set something on fire is extremely difficult to reign in when I'm stressed, anxious, or manic.

That song has me thinking...Do we all have a predisposition...a tendency of sorts to become arsonists? i mean, i am sure we can all remember ourselves at some point in our lives, be it younger or older, sitting in front of a fireplace, of a campfire, and being captivated, even hypnotised by the flames. Is it some sort of game our minds play, or is it merely some kind of instict left by our ancestors who lived in caves and first discovered fire and seemed so new and divine to them? In our everyday lives we all know and understand how useful or destructive fire can be. Yet sometimes we find ourselves being in awe in front of it

OMFG, I JUST LITERALLY TOLD MY PSYCH THIS!! I am diagnosed with the actual disorder Pyromania, and none of the mental health staff, including the Psych, knows what to do with me or how to help me because of this exact thing. I think it is just the primitive part of the mind that has never fully been evolved over the generations...it isn't something I can control, and it is NOT something I want to get rid of because it is part of me. NOBODY understands that because all they see is the fact that I am setting fires (though I am always careful for fuck's sake) and I am "dangerous" because of that. They don't see that I don't set fires anywhere near people or animals though. Le sigh. THANK YOU SO MUCH for saying this. :)

You dont have to, thats why fire needs control and be in safe evironment. Find safe ways to get that out i guess on regular basis.?! Maybe, no else idea.

Keep in mind, there is a difference between pyromania and arson. The first is a condition, a state of mind, the second is a crime. There are many people with pyromania who never commit arson. And there are arsonists who are not pyromaniacs. Sometimes the two go together but often they don't. All to often people conflate the two. That is why I point out that there is a difference.

Nobody was ever burned at the Salem witch trials. It’s simply a myth.
@Canpicklesbesweet5 жыл бұрын
I'm literally playing it right now. Also, Art Boi, the burnings are not a myth at all. They happened. Your "glorious" church burned all these women.
@GentleShivers5 жыл бұрын
I’m not arguing with an idiot. “Twenty people were eventually executed as witches, but contrary to popular belief, none of the condemned was burned at the stake. In accordance with English law, 19 of the victims of the Salem Witch Trials were instead taken to the infamous Gallows Hill to die by hanging. The elderly Giles Corey, meanwhile, was pressed to death with heavy stones after he refused to enter an innocent or guilty plea. Still more accused sorcerers died in jail while awaiting trial.” Do your research kiddo. Also I’m an atheist so it’s not “my church”.

I'm from Greece, it's 03:37. 3 hours since we found out that my grandma's house was consumed by the fire. Same for my aunt's house next to her and my uncle's house across the street. People fleeing to the sea, many lost their lives there trying to save themselves. We have missing relatives who might have been taken by the fire, we haven't heard from them in the last 15 hours. And I'm listening to this song. People lost their houses, their memories, their friends and their relatives. Too much to take in at once. And still, I've been listening to this song on repeat. It's haunting just like what is happening at the moment.
