• Thinkin' Bout You- Jos...
Would that I hozier Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
True that I saw her hair like the branch of a tree
Willow dancin' on air before covering me
Under garden and calicos
Over canopy dabbled long ago
True that love in withdrawal was the weepin' of me
That the sound of the saw must be known by the tree
Must be felt 'fore the fight, the call
Friendly fire, but that was long ago
[Chorus]
But that's not tonight (Oh, oh)
When I'm set alight (Oh, oh)
And I blink inside (Oh, oh)
Your blinding light (Oh, oh)
Oh, that's not tonight (Oh, oh)
When you hold me tight (Oh, oh)
All the fire bright (Oh, oh)
Oh, let it blaze alright (Oh, oh)
Oh, hope that you're good to me, oh, you're good to me (Oh, oh)
Hope that you're good to me, baby (Oh, oh)
[Verse 2]
With the war of the fire, my heart moves to its feet
Like the ashes of ash, I saw eyes in the heat
Feel it soft and as pure as snow
Fell in love with the fire long ago
With each love I could lose, I was never the same
Watch it still live in roofs, be consumed by the flame
I was fixed on your hand of gold
Lay in waste of my lovin' long ago
[Chorus]
But that's not tonight (Oh, oh)
When I'm set alight (Oh, oh)
And I blink inside (Oh, oh)
Your blinding light (Oh, oh)
Oh, that's not tonight (Oh, oh)
When you hold me tight (Oh, oh)
All the fire bright (Oh, oh)
Oh, let it blaze alright, honey (Oh, oh)
Oh, hope that you're good to me, oh, you're good to me (Oh, oh)
Hope that you're good to me, baby (Oh, oh)
[Verse 3]
So in awe there I stood as you licked off the grain
Though I've handled the wood, I still worship the flame
Long as amber of ember glows
All the wood that I'd loved is long ago
[Chorus]
And that's not tonight (Oh, oh)
When I'm set alight (Oh, oh)
And I blink inside (Oh, oh)
Oh, your blinding light (Oh, oh)
Oh, that's not tonight (Oh, oh)
When you hold me tight (Oh, oh)
All the fire bright (Oh, oh)
Oh, let it blaze alright (Oh, oh)
Hope you're good to me, hope you're good to me (Oh, oh)
Hope that you're good to me, baby (Oh, oh)
Oh, oh, you're good to me, you're good to me (Oh, oh)
Hope that you're good to me, baby (Oh, oh)

YES. That was me some months ago, when it came out. LOVE IT SO DAMN MUCH. And I have a feel that it will never get old, and that, at 60 years-old, I will still be able to feel its shivers and its powers and its flames, and to dance and stomp the ground with my feet, maybe along with my children - whom for now I don't have, and whom by then will be 30 years-old... I love you so much Melia, even if I do not know you, for being sensitive to this song...!!! ........ It inspired so many memories in me.

I checked genius and it doesn't have anything yet. I'll try and relay to you what I've heard from people. Acc to Hozier, he's comparing he's previous lovers to forest stuff like fire and wood. I'm guessing the subject lover he's talking about is the fire bc it's what he holds up high in the song

It's not "hope that you're good to me" but "oh but you're good to me". Your version makes this song very bland. And It's not "dabbled" but "dappled" (how can't you see that?), besides all the other mistakes others wrote about.

Whoever did this video absolutely butchered the lyrics lmao. 7 mistakes in the first lyric slide alone. Why even post this if you have no clue what the lyrics are?
