Yes as Ken said, the double sided tape is removed by pulling from the ends, accessible via a cutout in the hinge. The heat gun method is useful if the tape can't be grabbed.

Thanks for your video, I'm stuck on the part of removing the screen 30 pin connector. I couldn't tell from where the camera is placed how you prized it open.does the latch go up or do you simply pull it out?

It's amazing to me that in a video that came out 9 months prior to yours, from HP, they mention the pull-tabs for the monitor adhesive, and you don't mention it at all. You actually take a heat gun to it, and risk melting/damaging the top lid. You also DO NOT have to take that top bar off... I won't recommend you to anyone... sorry...

it is a very primitive way of doing it, since it will warp the back cover if it's made out of plastic, which most hps are. i suggest using acetone and a plastic spudger.
